Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

Good work, Scott.  Those are beauties - the color is sure there!

My germination rates are not really hot, glad I planted lots
of seeds.  The F3 from 2015 actually have the best percentage
at this point! The purples haven't really shown up yet - one
sprout - at the 2-week mark.

To everybody - don't be afraid to plant lots of seeds.
I was hoping for better from the late purple pods, but
mayhaps they were just too late in the season to mature
seeds properly.  I have enough plants going forward, so
no big deal, I guess.

I'll put up pix in a few days - just cots for now - should
see true leaves on some by early next week.

Cool thread Paul! Can't wait to see this year's plants.
Shane!  Good to hear from our Poway brother!
How have you been? I assume deployed?
Thanks, my friend, Tristan has created a nice cross.
It has been fun growing it out.  I have some seeds
left if you want to give it a whirl...  ;)

I will take you up on that...but no grow this year. I am headed to Charleston this summer.

Seeds on the way today or tomorrow, Shane.
You can just keep 'em in lockdown until such
time as you can grow!

Are you still at the Kendra Way address?

Hi Paul, I'm finally gearing up to start the PDN x Bonda seeds you so kindly shared... probably the end of next week or so. Should be interesting. ;)
Alright, my friend

The purple pod seeds didn't do well for me - just two
germinated.  The white variety performed better.

Can't wait to see how they do for you!

Sure am! Thanks man.

Seeds on the way in the morning, Shane!

  Cheers, brother!

Last Fall, these last two pods on the F5-1produced 3 seeds between them   :tear:
I had such high hopes   But, one out of the three did germinate, so I hope
the awesome genetics of these pods can be preserved going forward:

So, a 33% germination rate for the bhutish cream colored pods above.

As for the other seeds, the purple pods' seeds results were ghastly  :mope:
2/34 or about 6%, being generous. I did get one seedling from the large
awesome purple pods at the end of the season.

The white pods' seeds fared a bit better, 13/36 or lean 36%. Lots of seedlings
to choose from; about half of the grow will consist of plants from large, nicely
shaped white pods.

The champion, the F3-2015 seeds, 11/12 germinated for almost 92%. About half
the grow will consist of these vintage plants. Oddly enough, these seeds were dried
at 105F in my dehydrator (before it went bonkers and started cooking seeds). I had
the best overall germ rates ever from the seeds that season.  I still have a small handful
of the original F3 seeds, but foolishly haven't kept some of each vintage's seeds.  Will
try to do better with the second line from the F3 going forward.

Tristen has a plan for some F3 seeds, as well, I believe   :D  Just sayin'.

Will get some pics at the three-week mark, 1/21 (since sowing seeds)...

Can't wait to see how other folk do with these.
Scott has set the bar pretty high!

Just added a few plugs to my dome.....decided to check the soaking containers instead of opening the rockwool plugs.

I found 1 purple F6 has a tail

It would appear that at least some of the late season purples are viable.

I won't be growing the purples, and will now concentrate the grow on the normal F6's.

Will let the plugs sprout at least to see what kind of germination rate the purple ends up with.

I put 2 or 3 seeds in each of 6 plugs of the whites and still have a few more soaking just in case.

I will cull it down to 3 plants in the end, but very hopeful I will see hooks by next weekend.

Thanks again for the seeds, very cool to be a part of this grow.

You're welcome, I'm happy you chose to participate, Dan!

Sounds like a good plan.  since you are starting so many, they
will probably all germinate!

Luck your way, my friend!

Okay trying again. Trying to edit these posts is way too hard.

Three weeks since seeds hit the Jiffy pellets.

Getting the fan on the seedlings early so they get those
nice, stout stems for the long indoor Spring. These are
from an ultra white F3 pod in 2015:

Ha     One last F6 seed germinated last night. I suspect that there might
be a few hooks in the Jiffy pellets I tossed:

F6 seedlings 5 days old (front right) to 11 days old (back left). All white pod
seed except for one purple pod seedling front right:

I am amazed looking at the hook dates on the labels what a difference
A day or two makes at this stage. They grow fast! These are in a 4:3 mix
of Happy Frog:Ocean Forest.
