Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

I'm in the process of transplanting everything, the 72 cell trays aren't working for me, half the cells will be bone dry and half still wet. Everybody is getting their own house now lol
Just looking at your pics I would also suggest bottom feeding to get rid of that silica and dark brown build up from top watering.

Looking good so far...won't be long before they enter explode mode and really take off with a growth spurt.

Yeah I shouldnt have went from the peat and paper towels to those trays, I was trying to save room and only run one light for a while.

I was trying to bottom water and not all the cells would soak up water, maybe I just wasn't giving them enough, idk.

I transplanted one tray last night, then I guess I'm coming down with a sinus infection or something. So I bottom watered the other two trays, I will wait for them to dry a little before I transplant the other trays I guess.

Purple still sprouting, I put him in some dirt. I hope the helmet comes off cause I suck at helmet head surgery!

+1 on the bottom watering!

That and up-potting early is something I like to do.

Great advice all around.  I like to bottom water, except when fertilizing,
then I water from the top to make sure the nutrients are distributed
throughout the pot.   Sometimes I have to spray the soil to wet it so
the water soaks in right away.

As for potting up, I'm putting the final eight into #2 nursery pots starting
today. Little roots are showing at the cutouts in the bottom of the 18 oz.
beverage cups.  they will be in these pots until end of June plant-out.

Just sowed 8 seeds of white and 8 seeds of purple. Will keep yall updated!

Alright, Indigo - welcome to the show!

Good luck with the germination...

Selected eight plants, four each F4 (seed from F-3 Fall 2015)
and F6, for potting up to #2 containers (about 1.7 gallons U.S.)
Added a bit of Osmocote and some bone meal and watered in
with B-1. Nary a droopy leaf You might be able to see the
general phenotype differences between the two strains. Sort of
hard to see in this angle.

The F-4 plants:

The F-6 plants:

I went for the large pots because the plants will be in these until late June.

This is where they will have to spend the Spring. Not the best
accomodations, but will keep them alive, hopefully:

Woot!

You're killing it Paul!

As usual ;) :onfire:

The over-wintered F5 got some root pruning and a
bit of fresh Fox Farms mix along with a little haircut.
In the process I discovered flower buds emerging all
over the plant. A bit of a surprise, for sure.

Canopy view. It has to share light with the F5 and F6
since they were potted up to their #2 nursery pots:

Some closer views of the buds. I tried to eliminate the dis-
tracting garage backgrounds but thats life in a garage grow:

It's looking really nice Paul. Are you going to trim the flowers or let it go?

My OW plants are trying to go straight to pod production as well. Heck they just got going again... My theory is to let the plant do it's thing.
Hey,Scott! I imagine that I will let them go.
I suspect that most will just fall off. Some may
actually set pods before late June. At any rate,
The plant is in it for the long haul to plant-out.
Will be interesting to see what happens under
the T5HO between now and late June!

Nice OW plant Paul! Is it your experience that the purple variety has a more vigorous growing habit? I planted the same number of seeds for the white and purple, and had all the seeds for the purple germinate, but only one for the white so far.

Interesting, just the opposite for my grow!

I see more differences between the F4 and F6 plants.

The F5 plants were very uniform last season.  The purple
pod seed came from one plant and the others came from
thew other three plants.

The focus for me is seeing whether the purple pod seed
plants actually produce pods that stay more purple, or if
that was just a sporadic result of climate/weather/germina-
tion timing/etc.

I know what you mean.. I grew out 3 Red Habs a few years back.. one had elongated pods.. which were beautiful.. saved the seeds.. but yet to plant them.
