Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

Welp, my peppers are growing pretty slow compared to yours. Still haven't managed to find a place for them so they're in the windowsill right now. The lack of proper lighting really shows in the slow growth rate unfortunately. I guess this season I'll just have to get by with what I have.
Hang in there, Bernd!  A nice Spring and Summer
will be just what they need. Sometimes we have to
settle for less than perfect, I guess

Good luck getting a nice, comfy spot for them...

Yeah you're probably right. The days are getting longer already, so we'll have to wait and see how it goes :D

I should have a spot for them soon though, after I clear some space in my office. I decided I don't need my cabinet as much as I need space for my peppers. Priorities, right? Now I just need some dough to buy a baker's rack, those things can be pretty expensive.

I have several Gorilla Racks left over from when I had a money pit business a few years back. If I didn't have so many of those I would make racks out wood or PVC. My stuffs in the shop so appearance is not an issue ;)

Indeed, Tristen, coming right along. Im seeing real differences
between the F3 and the F6 plants at this stage. Will try to grab
some pix real soon. Getting ready to transplant from beverage
cups (1/3 liter) to 2 gallon (8 liter) pots for the long haul to
plant-out.

Have you given any thought to the name, Tristen?

There's a great question, have been wondering the same thing

Yeah, I've been thinking about building my own, but I'm a perfectionist with two left hands. Anything I would build would never be good enough, and I'll be annoyed every time I look at it. If it wouldn't be in my office I'd probably do it though.

Same here! Such a drag writing 'Pimenta da Neyda x Bonda ma Jacques F6 purple' on my labels... After two times I shortened it to PxBF6p, but still

If you can't think of a name, Tristen, we could make a topic where people can chime in and share their glorious, ingenious names. With veto rights and last say etcetera for you, of course. I just wonder what people here would come up with.

Seeing similar competitions, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Planty McPlantface in there somewhere

Its been just over a month since first hooks emerged on Jan. 10.

The remaining 6 F4 plants. Taller than F6, and good branching already:

The remaining F6 plants. Lots of growth buds at the nodes, but no real
emergence of lateral branches, yet:

Heres a good example of the difference between the F4 and F6 plants:
The F4 on the left, with lots of emerging branches, F6 on the right. Both
hooks emerged on Jan. 10. The same relationship exists for all plants
With same emergent date:

These are the latest emerging plants; hooks on Jan. 14 and 16, respectively.
The plant on the left came from the bhutish last 2 white pods on the F5-1 plant;
the one on the right from a very late purple pod with great phenotypes fom
The F5-2 plant:

Nice work Paul! And thanks for having us

I hope I haven't posted this before ;)

To me it seems the Purple is closer in growth habit to a true PDN, which I'm growing as well. Taller, with more space between the nodes, and slightly smaller leaves. The White is squatter, with larger leaves.

Time will tell how all of this pans out. :P

That describes the phenotype of the F4 plants perfectly.
The seed came from an ultra-white pod in 2015.

Very interesting  my friend!

Here's a picture of two of the babies. Got a few more ofcourse but these are the biggest until now. No real purple color yet but it's getting a small tan :)

They are nice, and dark, Bernd, and little true leaves
trying to emerge in between  Whoo-hoo!

Yeah, Scott leads the way, alright! That warm Tejas Spring
will work it's magic on Scott's plants!

 hooks! Seeds are not sterile!  Just Kidding, a little, I always
hold my breath. It will be interesting to see what kind of germination
percentage folk get.

I'm in the process of transplanting everything, the 72 cell trays aren't working for me, half the cells will be bone dry and half still wet. Everybody is getting their own house now lol
Just looking at your pics I would also suggest bottom feeding to get rid of that silica and dark brown build up from top watering.

Looking good so far...won't be long before they enter explode mode and really take off with a growth spurt.
