Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.
 
In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just 
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.
 
Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

I keep being amazed at this cross. I'm still upset that none of the seeds I planted germinated. I would've loved to grow this beauty at my allotment. Next year!

Heck, I was lucky and got one of each. The violet is the much more prolific for me, white has only a few pods developing so far, but a bunch blossoms and more coming.
 
Definitely for overwintering if I want a crop though....and a Next Generation of seeds....

On the bright side, there should be any number
of sources for seeds for next season. I'll be looking
for some white pod seed since mine only turned
yellow

The color is spot on for the white variety pods, Scott.
Hope you see some more pods develop. How's
the flowering going?

No more flowering that I noticed today. it shouldnt be long till it tries again with the health of the plant. I expect to get plenty more.

Seems the white is gonna keep giving everyone troubles.. But very interesting to follow the development nonetheless
They are really good looking plants!

pic taken yesterday, pod is still firm. how do I know when its ripe and ready to torture my taste buds? lol  its fairly small. what's the average size of the pods? are the white smaller than the purple?

Pod size ranges from an inch to 3", with vast majority
being 1.5-2.5 inches in length. Shape varies, but if you
look back in the thread, you can see a lot of pics of
the pods. I'd say that one looks ripe to try out. As most 
c. chinense plants, it always starts out with a few 'runts'
before putting out the nice pods. They need lots of sun
and heat to produce the bigger pods. They can tolerate
some cool temps in the Fall.
