Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

All is well that ends well!

You have some nice looking
white pods there, Bookers.

oooohhh, looky that! All the way from Ireland!

The only two pods on my indoor plant finally ripened but to cream/pale yellow rather than white.  The plant has set loads of pods in the last few weeks so looks like I will finally have a decent harvest in about November or December!  (As the plant is in the house, they should ripen eventually, although day length (or rather lack of it) will be an issue.

The outdoor plant (which earlier only had tiny pea-sized pods) has finally set a few longer pods, but it's extremely unlikely that they will have time to ripen before the frost comes.

The plant I gave away has apparently been quite productive of pure white pods but my friend hasn't managed to isolate any of them for true seeds.  Not for lack of trying - she has bagged flowers several times but they have not set.

I got lucky, from what I've read even if the seeds are from a white pod no guarantee the next pods will be white.
I have found that to be the case, Scott. I'm thinking
that the white pods are a minority as the cross develops.
I guess it was luck that I got nice big white pods two
seasons in a row. All my plants produced violet pods
this season.

Glad to see folks getting some pods to ripen up. This
has been a dismal grow season for peppers here in the
Tualatin Valley  :mope:

it looks like all of mine that has ripened are turning white so far.  for once im lucky? lol  do you want me to save you some seeds from these?

sorry your season hasn't been so great.   our temps just took a dive. hoping it doesn't kill too many plants.

Both my white and violet are ripening identically, starting out a deep dark purple, and now reaching a stripedy-pale lavender/white-ish/sepia yellow.

So unless that's as ripe as they'll get, they are keeping me in suspense...

I never seem to be able to make my pictures turn out as purtty as everyone else's, but this white PDNxBMJ is growing out really well for me.

It's in a pretty crowded spot, and doing a fine job of competing with the other pepper plants around it.

It made it through the worst of the summer heat with only a modest amount of wilting.  I have several other pepper plants that suffered much worse.

I grew this one from seeds I saved from last year, a white F6 PDNxBMJ that I got from Sawyer.

Great looking pods, Scott    Hope your cold snap
didn't affect your plants adversely.

was hoping you'd like those pods, I still have to try one.

some have suffered, but others shrugged it off when it warmed back up.  we might have another 2 weeks of warmer weather then its going down.  im just hoping whats grown will ripen.
