Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

Tried the one on the right.
It's heat is a aggressive stinging heat that hits right away .
It peaks pretty fast all the while stinging like needles full mouth burn & starts to lower fairly quick much like a habanero .
The flavor was citrus grassy with tropical floral tones .
So my take is a pretty plant & pods with mean habanero heat but for me not wild about the flavor.

Picked the pepper in the post above. There are three
more pods on the plant getting close to ripe, and no
flowers showing. I think that will be it for the Trippaul
Threat F7 'White Lightening' Violet at this point in the
season. Pods ivory/white on the shady side, violet.
shading on the sunny side.

Second year Trippaul Threat F9 ‘dwarf’ in an 8” clay
bulb plan, second round of podding underway. Looks
like a ‘bumper’ crop coming along :D setting more
pods than any other round so far. Foliage looks sick,
but the pods should be nice.

Trippaul Threat v2 F4 Orange has really taken off
since the Spring Suck. Typical rangy growth habit
(as tall as the Aji Amarillo next to it), branches
dripping with pods. Hoping that they have a
chance to develop some more and ripen up.
You can see a smidgen of orange buried deep
in the plant.

A closer look at some of the pods.

Looks like the Trippaul Threat F7 Violet will
produce 5 or 6 decent pods to avoid a total
bust this season. Better weather might have
produced a plant loaded with these beauties,
but I’ll get perhaps enough for some F8 seeds
to share.

Most leaves gone from the OW Trippaul Threat F9
in an 8” bulb pan. I cleaned off the tiny pods follow-
ing this pic.

Pulled some nice pods off the Trippaul Threat F7 Violet.
I think this is my favorite of all the Trippaul Threat strains,
with the Trippaul Threat v2 yellow variant a close second.

I’ll be saving these seeds, and should have a few to
share if anyone reading is interested. This will probably
be one of the few c. chinense plants I will grow next
season.

The flip side.

There are actually a few new pods on the plant,
so maybe there will be a few more to pick this Fall.
Surprising considering the set-back from the Spring
weather and subsequent heat.

I'd love a few of these seeds please - especially after reading the history of these peppers.
They are so pretty (that's my criteria these days  )

Why the anticipated cut-back on chinense next season, @PaulG?

You know if you do that it'll be the season for chinense in the PNW next summer ;)
That would be just my luck, CD. I just don't use the
chinenses much anymore, and I'm growing weary of
having to keep them indoors until July if want to avoid
the Spring Suck . Some Fatalis for a friend, and
a couple of crosses, along with the wilds, should keep
me busy.

I'm sure interested in some of those Trippaul Threat F7 Violet seeds. Such nice looking pods.
Okay, Francis, consider it done. PM me your
addy, and I will send them as soon as they are
ready, in a week or so.

Absolutely, Tink. Unless you have moved from
Vanzay, I still have your addy.

P.S. - @Tinkerbelle099 and @francisp -

I'll include some v2 F4/5 yellow as well. Let
me know if there are any other strains you
have seen in the thread that you would like.

Your season is holding on to the Aces to the very last. A spectacular end to a tricky year :)
The chinenses have impressed me with their
late Summer / early Fall burst of activity this
season, Lourens.

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of hooks
in your germinators real soon, my friend!

Thank you lovely man xx
But I do insist on some quid pro quo this time - I shall send you a list of what I have to offer.
And yes, I'm still in Vanzay :D

That's nice of you, Tink! Reciprocation is not
necessary, I just like spreading the pepper love,
but thanks in advance!

Thank you very much.
You're welcome; it's my pleasure, Francis.
