Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

Trippaul Threat is an awesome name! And those dried pods looks pretty damn awesome too.

I am just tickled pink to have a name nailed down. I'm glad
we waited this long to see what was going to shake out
after the 7th generation. I think it's a very descriptive name
on many levels. And 3 is a magic number!

I'll ask THP if we can change the name of the thread to
reflect the new name.

Hey Mitzi, I sent you a PM :)

Mine are sort of creamy / ivory coloured but they look more white in certain light.  I have isolated pods and can send you some seeds once they're dried out, if you want.  I'll try to post pics.

The only seeds I'm after are bubblegum (any colour) as I have tried and failed multiple times to grow them.  Otherwise I don't really want anything in return as I'm trying to reduce my grow next year.

Looking forward to a monster Trippaul Threat white
pod producer in your grow, Bookers.

I see by your planting chart you are not afraid of heat

There's a yellow!? I missed that! Nice!

Yes, one plant out of 6 produced light yellow pods.
There are some pics in this grow log somewhere.

Trippa's original goal was to produce a yellow pod
variety, but after the yellow F2 generation, the white
pods won out, then the violet appeared in the F5
generation. I have some yellow planted, we'll see
how it turns out this season. Also growing out Devv's
white variety.

Ok! So interesting! Makes you wonder what lines could've been chased in the F2 if thousands of seed were sowed!

I have unearthed some F1 and F2 seeds from some
dried pods/powders. I'm not sure they are viable, since
I don't remember what temperature I dried the pods at.
Probably too hot, but maybe a mass planting would yield
a few live plants.

Ooh, I see we have a name!

My indoor plant is still alive on the spare bedroom windowsill and is flowering right now but I don't know if it will set pods at this time of year.  I'm trying to keep it alive for 2020 but I'm not planning to grow any more from seed, so I'll be at least one generation behind the rest of you.

I hope you can keep it going, Mitzi. It probably
needs a bit more light and warmth to bring on
the pods.

Were there any Trippaul Threat seeds in the
seed train?

I have some F8 seedlings going - will post a pic
real soon.

Thanks for posting to this thread!

I haven't had chance to go through it properly yet - will do so at the weekend.  I don't have enough seeds to add some this year.  After me, the seed train is going to Snagglepuss (if he sends me his address!) so he might add some.

Paul ... I currently have a plant growing (among a few others) that was labeled by myself "F5 yellow"? And a year (looks like 2017 ) so hopefully it continues the yellow colouring.
I may even back cross to that plant if it grows yellow pods from the current generation??
I currently have 5 plants growing from f5 to f8 but the f8 has only just emerged after almost 2months so I have my fingers crossed it survives!!!

Hey Tristen, Good to hear from you!

Those 2017 pods came from a plant that threw
several yellow pods and then started making
white ones. I included them in the packet I sent
because I knew you were looking for yellow pods
in the cross.

I can't believe the F8 took that long to germinate.
Both the F8 I'm growing emerged in two weeks
or less. But I'm glad it finally made it for ya!

I have high hopes for the F8 Yellow I'm growing. I
was surprised by the purple pods in F5, and then
the Yellow in F8. And I thought we had settled into
a white pod cross for a couple of generations. Will
be interesting to see what happens next.

Good luck to you, my friend. I hope those plants
produce well for you. And I hope the smoke from
the fires in Oz haven't affected you too much in NZ.
