Truck caught on fire

So earlier this week, I went and got me some wings from the local wing joint. While there, I got the guy interested in some of DEFCON's sauces. DEFCON was REALLY cool, and sent me a couple of bottles to give to the guy. Well, as Im blowing leaves out of the yard earlier, FedEx shows up. DEFCON's sauces!!! AWESOME!!! I immediately pm him and tell him. Then I was on my way to the wing joint. Get there, and the guy REALLY liked his sauces. Also might have him interested in Mojo's seasonings.
As Im eating my 2nd wing, the host comes in from outside and says your truck is smoking....BAD!! I thought he was full of shit. But, i went outside anyways..My damn truck was on FIRE!!! Well, the whole engine bay. Apparently it was either the battery, or something close to it. COMPLETELY fried the inside of the engine bay. Im not exxagerating, either. IT IS SCREWED. It filled the whole inside of the truck, but the fire itself didnt get to the inside. The people at GM knew how to build firewalls in 1980 apparently.
What sucks is this truck was left to me by my dad, who passed away in 2008. Centimentally, it is worth a LOT more than its actually worth. BUT, as unlucky as I am, I was SMART enough to have it FULLY insured. It still doesnt take away from the fact that my dad's truck is now SCREWED. It boiled and comepletely burnt the pain off of the hook, and bubbled the paint around the fenders, etc.
Luckily I wasnt in the truck. It wasnt even acting funny today. So I dont know.
Guess I need to start looking for a new vehicle....

Sorry to hear that - car troubles always screw up the rest of the day. I should be looking for a new car, myself, but absolutely don't want the hassle right now. Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys. Im already kinda looking, but it will be next week before we know anything.
Buddy...its kinda funny, "Buddy" was my dad's nickname for me.

I finally got rid of my 1991 ford explore, it was the first new vehicle I bought and hated parting with it, it had 350,000km on it and every other day something else would fall off it. The last time I had it in for servicing they wanted $7,000 to keep it road worthy. I feel much better now - I drive a Volvo.

dang...what is it with this week with vehicles...first origamiRN with the trailer explosion (of the kaka in the cans) then you with the truck fire....

*** peeking out in the driveway to check on my truck***

Yeah, I am pretty sure it will be totaled. I doubt I will get what I would need to fix it. And the problem with them totaling it is they have to take it. Im hoping they'll cut me a deal and let me buy it back. Im thinking I MIGHT go to an auction next week and buy a vehicle. Need a 4 wheel drive around here because of the snow.
The main thing that sucks is that it was my dad's truck, and he left it to me when he passed away 2 years ago. Its pricless, to ME. But, if they say that they will sell it back to me for a crazy amount, I will have to say goodbye to it.

With it being my DAD'S truck, I dont care how big it is. I will deal with it. And, like Mojo said, it will become a project for me.

Even though we had our differences last week I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father's truck HP, hope you find another real soon. You do know what Chevrolet stands for, cracked head every valve rattles oil leaks every time, or now GM stands for Government Motors.

Thanks Cappy.
They were TRYING to screw me today....even though we have BEEN paying for full-coverage, they TRIED saying that we didnt. I wasnt having THAT crap. Turns out, since its such an "old" truck, they had to take pics. Well, when they put out the notice that they needed pics to value the truck, they bumped me down to liability. So, I went in and took pics. They were SUPPOSED to bump it BACK to full coverage. Guess what? THEY DIDNT! BUT, we proved that we HAVE been paying for full, so they are in the process of back-dating it so we'll be covered. I just dont like insurance companies. They'll pay their people out the ass, but wont pay the actual policy-holders any damn money.
