Let's move on folks! And please be respectful of religions!

So how do these 'showdown' things work anyway?

And NJA, seeing as you came up with the idea, what are we gonna call it? (psst... Veggie Patch Smackdown)

It ain't up to me I have my hands full with the official ones. All I ask is you do what you can to avoid confusion. I don't want members confused as to which "Throwdown" to enter. Call it what you want. Do it how you want. Try not to coincide with dates. Thanks

I also suggest, as the organizer, you also create and maintain a group for this, with the official name.

Hmmm.... maybe just a vegetarian show-off thread for now then, NJA? What's your thoughts? You came up with the idea so I'm leaving the organizing up to you... :P

Yeah! yeah! create a group, NJA!

Um, BTW, what exactly is a group? (leave me alone, I'm new to this interweb forum stuff)

Under the Forum >> Community link go to Groups.

Although I am about as far as you can get from being Vegan or even Vegetarian, I do see some of the benefits of it. I have been enjoying reading this thread and the education I have been getting from it. Thanks NJA, Celeste, & Gas. Oh and Wicked Mojo, can I get some ribs? Nice pig.

Excellent name for the new group NJA! I have joined!! I think its important to note that its not just for veg-heads.. its for anyone who has the skills to cook a tasty, goodlookin dish that happens to contain no meat.. there are plenty of options.. so I dont think anyone has to be turned off by the 'veg' theme of the group.. :D

what exactly is forbidden as far as "vegetarian" goes?

Good koschen from AJ.

Whole of India considers dairy apart from all veggies as vegetarian. Egss, Fish are considered as Non Vegetarian.
Since eggs can be asexual, I tend to think that people here on this board can include them in their recipe at par with dairy.

But no fish or other fish products.

What say you guys?

NJA

so butter is OK?

:mornin' NJA:

Is this going to be vegan or vegetaian?

AJ, I don't know NJA's rules but vegan is strict. No animal products or byproducts. For example, think of a cow. You could not use the meat, the milk or wear the leather made from it.

There are pesce vegetarians-they will eat fish. Ova/lacto will eat eggs and milk.

Dang you just beat me to the question

I think as long as there is no meat then you're safe.. will need NJA to clarify;.. but thats my thinking..
