food VEGETARIAN THROWDOWNS

Vegetarianism has many issues and levels. Most of my knowledge such as it is comes from older books that came out before I was born or at least fairly young. Diet For A Small Planet and Reecipes For A Small Planet for instance. They discuss food combining as a way to meet your protien needs. For instance, rice and beans so that the amino acid(s) that are lacking in one food make up with the other food.

There are environmental issues with taking the resources, the grain we feed the cows for example, that could feed us directly and more effectively.

Some vegans are hardcore and also will not wear animal products as well as not consume meat or meat byproducts. Some even go so far or so I've heard as to not eat foods that were cooked in the same pan that meat was cooked in.

I hope what I posted makes sense. A little tired so will edit if necessary.

Makes sense, pileiton!

Food combining is very important for a vegetarian, and very much more-so for a vegan (otherwise it can be a very unhealthy diet indeed).

And humanitarian issues were probably one of the stronger influences for me to becoming a vegan - much more than animal rights. I'm not denying that I feel compassion toward animals, on the contrary, but I feel far more emotion towards my human brothers and sisters. Of course, it appeared that there was no room for that kind of thinking in the vegan movement........ F*CK mankind, animals are our superior!

Ironically, I became a vegan to find peace but instead I found hatred, bickering and irrationality.

Oh, and talking about vegan propaganda before, Celeste, I saw a anti-egg slogan once, "from the chicken's vagina, to your mouth".

What's that say? That both chickens and vaginas are filthy things? Ironically anti-animal, wouldn't you say? and very anti-human too if you ask me.

OK, I think I'm done now.........

ohh a vegetarian throwdown that involves chilis

NJA will take this one, for sure :D

But i do have an idea for this throwdown, i might need to do some research and practise first.

.....

Gas fails. Chicken/birds,frogs.reptiles do not have a Vagina. They have all in one Hole called... cloaca..

okay, and now that we've settled that, no need for any more food evangelism. No one trying to convert anyone here, right? Vegetarians and omnivores living in harmony. Good! back to the fun! -however, most of my meals currently are three cans and a bag of rice, cooked together and add chili sauce. Its not food porn. Its one pot meal that will be lunch all week long...the life of a single mom/college student/artist.

ooo, wait, there is the cookie recipe.....or should I save that for a dessert throwdown? The one with the Aji Limon powder.

hmmm, on the subject of chickens....I knew a delightful omnivorous woman who refered to eggs as "chicken abortions" and unfertilized eggs as "chicken periods"

Gasificada, when I decided to modify my diet to be less extreme vegetarian than it was, eggs were the first thing I added back!-now I just concentrate on what is healthy for me, and figure that we all have different needs and tastes.

You should call it something else so people don't confuse it with THP Throwdowns. We have those every month. If you're going to do this every 45 days please change the name. Thanks

Suggestions:
Victorious Veggies
Garden Variety Showdown

Sure thing, boss!

if you took it to heart & was offended, sorry.

celeste - if some of your post from previous page was directed towards me, I'm joking around!
its funny how some people think its ok to take jabs are certain groups of people but as soon as its done to another group they jump all over you.
BTW I'm catholic & still laugh at other catholics (including family) during lent about not eating "meat" while stuffing their face with fish an eggs
meat is meat theres no way around it!

I have nothing against omri or NJA & respect both. its all just joking around...you know we have joked around with omri about eating pork, again joking around!
Holy cow!

Now you know where that expression comes from ;)

chilehunter,

I knew that you were joking. But some things are very personal. Religion is also one such thing for me.
Beef is something unthinkable like eating your own mom's meat.
This is how we take Cow as. Our mother.
So please understand my feelings.

NJA

NJA, some Indian restaurants over here serve beef. This is how I look for Indian restaurants (well, not only that, but...), if they serve beef they are not authentic. I know there are many religions in Indian but Hinduism is the majority.

THP,

"Indians" does not mean HINDUS. There are Muslim, christians, Buddhists Indians too.
It is a Taboo and deeply hurting for a Hindu.
I do not have any problems if any of you consume beef (which most of you do) but telling me to "Go Eat Beef" is hurting.

I know I tried to say that in my post. Did you see the last line? I know it's Hindu, which is the majority of India.
