Vincent's restarted 2014 glog***April 1st Pic Update***

I figured it was close enough to go ahead and start my 2014 grow. I have already sown many seeds and have a few seedlings as well. Some of you may have seen towards the end of my last grow I had an in-ground garden plot tilled. It's fairly large at 30' long by 25' wide, so it'll hold way more plants than I could ever use lol. I will fill it as much as I can without going overboard..... I am going to be growing the wilds in root pouches just for convenience mainly, I will overwinter all of them hopefully. I just don't want to have to dig them up and worry about damaging their roots. I have about 15-20 seedlings under the T5's right now along with a good bit ofs eeds I'mwai ting to pop up, and my lonely hydro plant (Yellow Daisy Cutter).

Here is a list of the seeds I've sown so far. The ones with a * beside it indicates that at least one has sprouted. This is definitely not a final list and will change constantly until mid January probably.

Forgot to add C. Parvifolium to that list. No sprouts yet though.

I will probably add

MOA Scotch Bonnet
Not Black Naga X Yellow Scotch Bonnet (my own cross, will not release)
My unnamed black hybrid (will not release)
7 pot Primo X (can't release)
7 Pot Jonah Yellow
7 Pot Chaguanas Yellow
7 Pot Rennie Red
7 Pot Rennie Brown
Brazilian Ghost Pepper
Cili Goronong
7 Pot Barrackpore Chocolate *pending trade*
Trinidad Scorpion VV7
Aji Pineapple
UBSC

There's a few more I can't remember. I am almost certain I will have to make some cuts, but I don't know which ones that will be lol. Some of them I'm only growing 1 plant just to (a)see if I like it, and (b) I'm runnning out of seed.

Hi Cousin,
Based on your experience, I ordered a couple of sheets of 1.25 inch Horticubes to try. I have some wild seeds courtesy of Kevin and Charles, and I'll probably do a side-by-side comparison starting them in both the Horticubes and Hoffman's seed starting mix. Should be interesting...

Wishing you a Happy Christmas and a New Year filled with joy and health!

Last year was red solo cups and MG potting soil. My son and I germinated many weed seeds that year. This year we soaked then rolled/fluffed 216 peat pellets. My son left after the second tray. Next year it's horticubes. Looks like less work and better results. Thanks for all the info. Do they dissolve in the soil or do I have to pull them out before composting them?
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

You won't regret it, I promise. I can't say much about wilds in the cubes as I've only had a couplegerm so far. Now, for everything else, I honestly can't believe the speed and percentage of sprouts I've been getting. I have probably 25 more new hooks over the last day or so. You made a wise investment cousin

LOL, sounds like my wife and your son feel the same way. The wife will help me do pot-ups for about 30 plants but then she's done.

As for the dissolving, I am not sure. This is my first year using them and none of the plants are old enough for the cubes to have dissolved yet. I know they're organic and inert and once they are wet they will break and crumble some so I would imagine they would dissappear. Especially once the roots grow through it I would think the cube would just be broken up so small with all the little roots coming through. Again don't quote me on that though, I will try to remember to let you know a little further down the road.

Thanks for the holiday wishes everyone

Great shots of the babies germing, glad your having such success.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Vincent!

+1 Scott!

Merry Christmas, Vincent!

Thanks Jamison, did you move down south yet? And yep I was 2/4 on MOA but it's only been a week so the others may still come up
Not yet bud. Counting the days now. Right after the New Year we'll be headed down. Glad your 2/4 on them. I think I sent out about 40 packs of with at least 10 seeds each, possibility of 400 MoA plants. Glad to see they are germinating. Never tested em out myself yet. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas! Make sure you go to bed early, Santa's coming tonight!

Thanks Jerry. Believe me, that list didn't come to me easily, or cheap

Nice, they're definitely growing for me.

Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas as well

Well I got myself a problem here....these dang seeds won't quit sprouting and all this potting up is keeping me too busy! Another problem is people won't stop sending me seeds lol. I got a badass package from Mike that included Borg9, yellow daisy cutter, 7 Pot caramel, 7 Pot Mustard, Aleppo among others. Then from Enrico over in Italy sent me some Pimenta Puma, TS green, and Pimenta Pink Tiger. Claudio at pepperfriends is sending me C. Flexuosum, C. Exile, some kind of Not C. Buforum, Pimenta Leopard. CGN is also sending me some pretty awesome stuff like CGN 20497. Gotta order more horticubes lol.

Anyways, here are a couple pictures

Do you experience any problems with seed coats staying stuck?
Not with these horticubes I don't. I haven't had a single one in the cubes so far. Now with soil or rapid rooters it happened alot more frequently.

Very cool  .  I made this cross last year and Chris grew it out, he really enjoyed it as I recall.  Will be interesting to
see how this F2 turns out!
Nice, I got seed from Chris. I wasn't sure what generation it was but I'll make note of it now

What do you guys do when you get a stubborn helmet?

Yeah, with starter mix if you don't plant deep enough you can have issues.

You can put drops of water on the seedcoat whenever you remember. Some people are good at surgery, but I get better outcomes just leaving them be.

Those cubes look really convenient and your seedlings are coming up great. I would prefer if they were smaller though, you don't need all that room to sprout a pepper seed. I'm using a 200 plug flat to start mine this year.
