oooh by the way t.b. if you didnt have that stupid raw onion on your sammy i would have voted for you!

i like it raw ooh baby i like it raw

you can call me dirty then lift up your skirt

I lost a lot of votes one t-down because I had an egg on top with the yolk runnin' all over the dish like sweet porn.......well, some people don't like runny egg yolk. To me, I'd bathe in it and run naked through the streets screaming into the night.....but to some....it's repulsive.

It's all in what you (the voter) like. That's the basis of these competitions. If you don't like an ingredient, most likely you will go to the next entry. The KEY is to read into every potential voter....and cater to what they might vote for.

Welp, I guess after seeing the race this late in the game, it's almost time to throw in the towel! Just can't seem to hold a lead for very long. LOL

It's been fun!

Y'all and your stinkin' rayciss onion 'thang!!

Much obliged Pauly and Jay and all my peeps.

I'll cook for y'all anytime.

My treat.

WAIT.

Who said the brisky looked over cooked?

You're on drugs!

Thank you all for your compliments!

I originally found out about this food item a while back, but have never had the opportunity to try it-or make it. Thus the need for me to follow some internet recipes relatively closely.

In Chicago, where I believe this sandwich is known, it seems to be presented in a number of varieties.

If the information I have read is correct, a typical order might be 'hot-dipped' - or Italian Beef on gravy-wetted bread with giardiniera (I believe this means from the garden, although my produce was from the market down the road.)

The version I made was 'Cheesy Beef,' or 'Italian Beef with cheese.' I am not certain whether this includes the giardiniera on the sandwich-but I belive it might, and I did regardless. lol.

This Wikipedia article contains interesting information about this sandwich. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Italian_beef . It explains a bit about the history and sandwich varitiations.

-----

I might change a few things here and there in my prep were I to make this dish again, but the general setup seem to work for me. Maybe I'd try the v-shaped bread idea, and melted cheese-if I could manage it. Not being from Chicago, I was having to do a bit of guesswork.

Off the subject, this was actually not my first TD entry ever. But I know I still have things to work on, so I'm in the learning stages.

Is Keybrdkid and one other the only ones who baked their own bread? I haven't been following that closely. Keybrdkid's entry ROCKED! I didn't get the ethnic part of it. If I missed that I'm sorry, I would have voted for you, dude!

Crock pot meat, the veggie thang, baked bread....yea, baby!

The 'Kid rocked it, and I hope to see him again in future TDs. Good Job!

Totally agreed. To step into a first TD and throw that beauty out there for us was a WIN all on its own. Kid...I hope you understand...just entering a TD makes you better than you were. PLEASE don't let the lack of votes make you think you didn't bring it hardcore...YOU DID. There are many, multi-crown winners here that have been through TD's without a single vote. You gotta look at it this way: ThrowDowns are like the Ms. Universe pagent...even the ones that didn't win give you dirty, dirty thoughts.

If that was your first ever TD entry...we're in deep shitto, kiddo!
