Who has the best hometown hot dog?

Wow, 20 entries, I believe this is the most popular TD yet!

This is all about hometowns and representing your area with a hot dog. The entries look amazing! The creativity is evident. Now vote!

As always voting ends in 48 hours.

Frito Pie dog took it for me. So many great ones...ones I will be duplicating here.

I had to vote right away, as my wife is getting "that feeling" that we may be a family of 4 tomorrow.

First of all kudos to all the first timers, I believe there were a few. Nick, great first (I think) entry. I dig the homemade jalapeño roll, but ketchup on an Indian dog?! You had that nice chutney, why?

Onto voting. I looked at who repped their hometown as well as deliciousness ;)

POTAWIE gets it. You repped your part of Canada very well, and it looks simply amazing! Cheddar curds in a smoked then grilled homemade maple whiskey dog! Not only is that pure Canada, that is pure genius. Man I can picture the sweetness of the maple syrup with the sharpness of the cheddar, and smoked, with pickled jalapeños and more cheese. Job well done.

TB, you repped TX very well, and it looks delish. MWCH, loved the relleno dog as well. You guys really repped your hometowns with classic dishes on a dog.

All I can say is "WOW"! all of those entries are EXTREMELY edible and would it them all, in one sitting! I mean, really... probably the best Throwdown EVER!

My personal favorites were (not in any particular order):
  • JayT's Philly Cheeseteak Dog
  • paulky_2000's Kentuckland Lobster-Dog
  • POTAWIE's Lanark, double corkscrew
  • paulky_2000's Circle-H Traitor-Dogs
It was REALLY hard to choose one out of these... I mean, first of all none of them is Kosher!
They all look like pure happiness, or like TB likes to say (after he stole it from me!) it's pure awesomeness! so I finally went with JayT's dish as it made me want to break the laws of Kashrut the most...

Amazing work guys! AMAZING!

As a greedy pig I take my food judging seriously, even if I only get one vote.
First I had to eliminate the ones with seafood, because I can't eat it, makes me seriously ill. Nothing personal guys
JayT I'm only an ignorant Australian so I can't tell if its a joke but do people really marinate stuff in Dr Pepper

My pick of the best ones.

Deathtosnails I really like the look of your dog but I still remember when Chris Judd was an Eagle.. nuff said

Lunchbox I find myself hypnotised by your half eaten dog pic. It calls to me...

Justaguy has to score marks for doing something original with a hot dog. I would so go through that whole plastic bottle of garlic powder in a few weeks.

JoeyK ingredients sound tasty but the lack of photos is a bummer, hope you didn't burn too bad.

midwestchilehead my arteries hardened just looking at your rellenos dog. I'd eat that dogs brains out!

POTAWIE OMG that thing is insane! Its hard to not vote for you after all the effort you put in.... and you weren't even soberer

geeme its actually lliterally on fire. :mouthonfire:  My recipe, that never got made, involved onions caramellised in habanero oil, great minds think alike.

sumofmybits Yours is the prettiest one of all. You must be so proud. Now if only there were twenty or so of them

So hard to choose only one, when they are all so good. All much better than I could make myself.

My vote has to go to

zdeckers Columbus Ohio Demolition Dog

It looks to have the right balance of flavour n filler, textures, colours, fresh n processed, dry and grease. It looks really hot too, and the guacamole would even that a bit. Nice job.

Man, the only excuse I can muster is that I had to simmer the chutney for an hour and a half - that gave me too much time to work on the beer aspect of the meal, so I wasn't in my right mind by the time the dogs hit the grill.

This TD was really difficult to vote in. In the end, I had to go with MWCH's relleno dog. As soon as I saw those pictures I jumped off the couch and slapped the cat.

Beer will do that to ya.

Loved all the entries, but you got my vote SOMB ... it appealed to my sense of humour/interpretation

You came a close second "DQ that just *had to enter* after spending $100+ on ingredients" ... very imaginative ;)

Even last place beat all my ideas :(

Thanks Nick! I hope your cat doesn't hold it against me (I was going to say something more crude - but I'll leave that to your own imaginations ;-))
