What are you packin'?

Mods: Not sure where to post this so move as appropos.

Hey ya'll, I've decided to go legit and get a concealed carry permit. I grew up with guns in the household. In Alaska they were a necessary tool. I've owned at one time or another handguns in a variety of calibres from .22 to .44. In the early 80's I had a Smith Model 19 6" that I wish I still had. I'm looking for another one in nickel. My current is a Glock 19. Great gun but I wish it had a little more poop. What are ya'll carryin' for out and about or home defense?

Cheers, TB.

Well here in Australia we aint allowed to carry concealed weapons and pistols have to be stored at the gun club.

Having said that my choice would be Mach 10, who cares if the bullets are little, you would get hit by at least ten of them :) Plus they look cool and would make me feel all :gansta:

ahhh..that's still a leetle bit illegal. That's more a "spray and pray" gun. Only for military or drug dealers. 'Sides..I don't have class 3 license to own one.

Nooooo mice in the Nutterz plant?

I own a few rifles, all .22 caliber. I've got a mid sixties Marlin 39A topped with a williams fp-tk peep sight, a belgian Browning semi-automatic takedown .22, and an old Winchester 1906 Pump .22. Also own an old Sears/JC Higgins single shot 410 that I keep loaded with buckshot for home defense.

That's about it. Not preparing for the WROL zombie takeover business. Just beercan hole punchers.

Grew up around them myself TB. My pops was an avid hunter/fisherman and from the age of six or seven every weekend was spent doing one or the other and sometimes both.

The ones I currently own are a Ruger semi-auto .22, Remington 12 ga pump, my pops old Browning semi-auto 12 ga, and a Ruger GP 100 .357 mag 6" revolver.

I love the smell of gun powder.

i own a bolt action tikka T3 30-06, a ruger mini 14 ranch rifle and a break barrel 410 that i got when i was 8. still looking to add a pistol to the collection

ahhh hell..my current stock is Remmington .375 H&H Alaskan, Mossberg 500 Shortstock Pump 12G, Remy 870 12G, Ruger 10/22, Glock 19. I once owned an AR-7 but couldn't hit a spruce hen out of a tree with it. The .375 will not only kill a moose but dig a hole and bury the gutpile at the same time. The Remy and Mossbergs were bear guns loaded alternately with slugs and OOO. Breakem' down, openem' up. I had a model 29 .44 8 3/8 barrel but was too cumbersome to haul around so got the Glock as a noise maker.
Here in Vegas with all the home invasions, drive by's, and sheer lunacy, I'm lookin' at some more firepower.

Cheers, TB.

For a while I was killing gallon milk jugs with a Weatherby .300 mag. That thing made big holes. Nothing like the H&H TB but I didn't have to worry about breaking my face each time I pulled the trigger. You have a brake on it?

If you are after more fire power you can't go past the Isreali made .50 Cal. Ask Omri he will tell you !!

The .300 Weatherby has alot more kick than a .375 which is less of a high pressure round in my opinion. .338 is even worse than the .300 Win or Weatherby. Years back I shot a Ruger No.1 .416. Beautiful gun and shoots easy low pressure. Buddy of mine rolled a brown bear trying to get into his tent 20 feet into the creek with that .416. Another one on my list to acquire.

Cheers, TB.

I would have never thought that TB, learn something new every day. My Remy 870 12 ga hits harder than the .300 mag.

I've held the rounds of the Weatherby .416 in my hands and almost fell over. Rolled a Brownie 20 ft. Damn.

Of all the animals on this planet a Brown Bear is the one I would work the hardest to bring a trophy home. I get chills looking at mounted ones.

.50 cal is a little tough to conceal. Any .50 cal is going to be a big framed gun. Might as well buy a cheap Stoeger SxS 12 with an 18" barrel. About the same concealability. Forgot to mention I also have a Ruger 12G side by side. Bought it for grouse 4 years ago but haven't shot it. Should go up in value in a few years.

Cheers, TB.

Brown bears, even Kodiak brown bears have been killed by a variety of guns. Even a .22 if bullet placement is right. But when a pissed off bear is charging you, a 12 guage is the best medicine. Bear could have it's heart and lungs shot out and still maul you to death. Better to have some slugs to break his neck or spine or take his face off so he can't see you and then finish him off.

Weatherby will kick more on the whole vs. Remy. Alot more powder in the Weatherby. Keep in mind that the good ol' 30.06 has killed more animals on the planet than any cartridge. Too bad I don't have one.

Cheers, TB.

Growing up in Iowa it's against the law to hunt deer with rifles, always shotguns and slugs. I've seen what a slug can do to meat. At 20 yards and less it is an extremely lethal bullet.

I hit a little buck running broadside to me at about 20 yds in the front shoulder. It took the other shoulder out. It was totally gone. The only thing holding the leg on was hide.
