What did you have for supper tonight

I'm sure everyone knows we in Louisiana will make rice and  gravy with any meat available, tonight i made one of my favorites using beef shanks. It makes a nice beef gravy and when cooked right it's hard to beat.

seasoned and pan fried hard to make a dark gravy

Navy beans with smoked turkey wings, I like to cook dried beans my way and freeze them. It's so much betterr than canned stuff.

 tomatoes are fresh from the greenhouse but those cukes are from thr GS. Simple old time dressing just vinegar, sea salt and fresh ground pepper

Pickled beets and I'm ready to eat, I did add Sriracha sauce to spice it up.

Thanks for the compliments!! I hope we can keep this going so we can look back and find dishes we haven't had in a while. Sometimes deciding what to cook it harder than cooking. I love this food part of the forum, so many good dishes.
 
Rice and gravy is the one Cajun dish I got burnt out on after moving here and haven't got back into yet. My wife and I were eating it for dinner and lunch every day after getting our first place. I'll have to give it another try soon now.

That brings back good memories.....I remember as a kid going to grandmas house for homemade chicken noodle soup....she made her own egg noodles and they would be drying on towels all over the kitchen table.....and the homemade loaves of bread cooling on the counter.....wish I could do that all over again.

$2.97 a pound? I could make a weeks worth of lunches for next to nothing! Nothing beats maters and cukes in simple vinegar and S&P!!!!

I've been craving Lasagna so I went buy all the crap, $38 later I'm out the door.
I used all the traditional stuff and the "process" is too much for a weekday supper if you have a Yob. I did plan ahead to make a few smaller containers for later.

one for supper, before and after, don't hate on my pan. It was a freebie gift from the casino.Maybe it wasn't free but I call it free.

The bread was a bake at home from Wally World but it was good, it wasn't frozen and it's in the deli area

I guess when I break that down to almost $7 a meal it's not bad but what a process. I didn't expect to spend 6 hours in the kitchen.
 
So there's the Peruvian food!
