What is this hammer for???

I got this in a box at an auction yesterday and have no clue as to it's original purpose in life.
I figure since peppers know no boundries that someone on here may work in a profession that uses these.

It is an upholsters hammer. They use it for upholstering chairs and couches, and things of the like.

Hang on to it, it looks kind of old, tho not worth much $$$.

The split end should be magnetized to hold the tacks.
I have a one I use to place finish nails
and brads, since they are so small. When I was
a kid we called them 'tack hammers'.
