Insane list!  I had no clue there were that many BBG types.  Can't wait to see pics.  How are those BBG Clusters doing for you?  Did you get a bunch of pods last year from that?

As always great list Justin.I have a feeling that a whole bunch of people were waiting to see this....I have to wish you luck on the season but I believe everyone knows you don't need it.Lol.
Thanks, I think this season I will need a lot of luck, too many outside factors going on that could bring the entire operation to a halt.

There are more bbg types that anyone could possibly imagine, I probably don't have a fraction of whats out there.  So many people creating crosses with them, they are everywhere.  I have 2 bbg clusters going so far, planting at least one, possibly both.  The seeds have been stubborn on them for some reason, have been challenging to germinate.  I did not get a  bunch of pods last year, actually pretty low productivity.  These things put on some amazing clusters of blossoms, I only all season though only had one great cluster of pods about 8 or 10 in a group I think.  The problem with them was the calyx was huge and wouldn't let the flower open.  The nice thing with that is all of them even though not netted should be pure as nothing could get in to cross pollinate.  The bad is about 90%+ of the blossoms never set and dropped.  I am hoping for better this year, maybe it was the environment, maybe it was the feeding, dunno.  If they do that again though I would probably not grow them in the future.  I think these things have incredible potential if we can get those calyx to not be so huge and keep the blossom shut.

Are you thinking of doing any crosses with them? I wonder if you can breed out that huge calyx, or get that cluster trait to take hold on some other varieties.

I would love to do some crosses with anything.  All my attempts last year resulted in dropped blossoms.  I hope to have better luck this year.  Some glasses will help, last year I was trying to cross with potted plants in the garage and though lighting was bad, well it wasn't the light so much as my aging eyes.  I don't know how these guys do so many.  Maybe better luck this year with better feeding on the plants etc.

I bought a pair of cheap reading glasses with 3 x magnification and a pair of surgical tweezers from Amazon, was a real breakthrough moment for me after trying (and failing) balancing a magnifying glass and 'borrowing' the wife's tweezers!  I found the most effective method, especially with c.chinense which can be very fiddly, is to take a pollen sack which is almost ready to open and literally tear it open with the tweezers and dump the contents directly onto the target stigma.

What a great list, Justin! I'd love to be able to grow that many varieties. But space is limited and I'd get overwhelmed. Lol. I've been really eyeballing that BBG7 x Peach Ghost Jami on Mojo's site. Hopefully you'll have them on your site for next season. Looks like a winner! I hope those BBG7 Clusters produce better for you this year!

Cheers!

Thanks Adam.  Yeah, the bbg7 x peach jami plant is kinda weak last time I looked.  First 50 or so starts had some crappy seed starting mix and some of those plants just didn't get off to a good start.  Hopefully now in a bigger pod and some good dirt it will take off.  Many other others I think have doubled in size this week.  Try to get some pics of them tomorrow.

Not sure where the other plant is at the moment, in there somewhere.  Need to do an inventory to know what all I have, but have 2 clusters going.  The one in the pic below is starting out just like they did last year.  Already has a y at 2" tall and wanting to throw out buds.  Probably will have to top this to stop that.  Last year I was amazed at it and let them go for a while and that first node on them had like 10 to 15 buds with the plant only 2" tall.

Hi Justin!

I see you're ready to rock! Good luck this season!
Thanks, need a lot of luck this season.  I have too many other things going on these days.  Will be a challenge to get all that planted this year.  By the time I get caught up with stuff have barely any time to look at others glogs and stuff sorry I haven't seen yours in a while.  Hopefully can catch up someday.

Indeed +1 Devv.  That list is sick.

The little BBG Cluster is trying to be a bonchi!
What is that, 2 or 3 nodes?
Thanks Paul.   Yeah, the BBG Cluster did same thing last year.  Will have to top it already probably to promote more growth.  Last year I just pulled off the buds and it just seemd to put more on without growing up really.  Bye end of year the plants were respectable but not as big as most BBG, both in ground and in container plants were about 2.5 to 3 feet tall.  I hope the calyx isn't as extreme this year and allows for more pods to set, if not might be the last time I grow them.  I think these have some great potential if can get past that huge calyx not letting the blossom to open up.
Here is a shot from last years, sorry about the poor photography skills, this one was probably 3" at the most when I took this.

That is amazing! you just got yourself a (first?) danish costumer :D

That little BBG is ridiculous.  Might be a good candidate
to groom for bonchi or for folk who live in small apartments
but still want a hot pepper or two.

Did you get any pods at all?

I feel ya on the time issues. 20 months since I was sick in the spring of 2015; and I'm still playing catch-up! One good thing is I have a week off soon. But it won't be enough ;)  But it will help.

Look forward to seeing how your garden grows!
