Who watched the big Apple Show

Not really interested in the walled-garden of the iThings.
 
But, it's nice to see that they're starting to catch up to the rest of the civilized world of smart-phones.
 
I have owned an iPhone 4, now I am on a Samsung phone, but I will be going back to the iPhone (I would have gone back already but have been waiting for the resize).
 
While my affair with Android was fun and enjoyable, it was also full of headaches. There are too many device makers on too many different versions of Android, the fragmentation is insane. Google is also just as walled as Apple, more so even. At least with Apple the app store isn't restricted by country (yes I know you can download and sideload apps---a hassle finding good APKS really). Not to mention the quality of apps is far higher on the Apple app store. Furthermore, I had far more hardware issues on Android (none at all with my old iPhone actually)---which btw if your USB connection fails on your Android phone, try using Heimdall to "reset/release PC screen", I think you can do it with Odin too.
 
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
 
How did "too many device makers on too many different versions of Android, the fragmentation is insane" affect you personally?  If you bought a new phone then it didn't.

It affects anyone--myself included--who has an existing device that can't update because the device makers and carriers are dicking around with customizations and taking years to put out an update or have decided that no you can't have an update. When 4.4 rolled out, my carrier had just released 4.1.2 for my phone. And all the other phones in the line up were still running 4.2. As of right now I don't think any of them are yet running 4.4. That's how it affects me.
 
I'm well aware there are google branded phones and google experience phones meant for people who want the latest OS w/o having to wait, but perhaps some people prefer other hardware than what google is offering. I'm also well aware of unlocking bootloaders (tried for months and didn't get anywhere) and running custom roms, but not all phones can handle that. I know mine can't b/c its CDMA (also pretty much makes it impossible to use a Nexus).
 
The iPhone works for me, just as my current Android has worked for me. That's not to say I don't have gripes about either platform, but I still prefer Apple b/c it's less of a hassle and headache to work with. And at least in my situation, the version of the iPhone for sale here has worldwide LTE coverage, comes sim unlocked out of the box, and in imho has a better build quality than the majority of Android phones.
 
Went from iPhone 4 to Samsung S4 and like it much better. But I may be down for the 6plus. I enjoy having a phone big enough so I don't have to switch back and forth to a tablet. Lots of iPads in my family, so I'm very familiar with iOS. I just like android better for the essentials.

I see no use for the iWatch - yet. Maybe worth it several gens from now.

Haha when the price comes down and they give us a week+ battery, maybe. Until then I'll stick with my Pebble.
