I'm not really sure what the issue was but I just got a much better strike rate and quicker germination using seed raising mix. I used two different types of jiffys though (some cheap ones from eBay & jiffy brand ones). The cheap ones were terrible! The normal ones were fine but still didn't work as well for me.

Try the Coir ones. Peat can die in a fire, it's horrible stuff.

I got bored yesterday so i put down around another 50 seeds, dont know why i keep doing this, i dont have enough room for the plants i already have lol.
This compulsion you speak of, I know of it all too well! Although, having the space to grow is only half my problem.... the other half is finding the time to raise and look after the buggers!

I couldn't help myself today. I saw a Burke's Backyard Thai chilli seedling in bunnings and despite having no room I bought it :P I have tried to raise this one from seed but had no luck.

I am really lazy at posting images so here's a few I snapped on the way to work

This year's additions, thanks to JungleRain -

One SUPER healthy over-winter -

That is one nice bushy plant :)

I just wanted to post that so I could say this is my 1000th post and I joined thehotpepper a year ago today :fireball:

Nice work Megamoo, something tells me you might be a little bit addicted.

Also will be going to bunnings tomorrow to try and find some coir pellets, figure they might be worth a go since everyone seams to think the jiffy ones are crap.

its all part of my evil plan

muahahahahahaha :hell:

most of those posts are "wow nice plants dude" or "my plants are sick..." :P

I'd really love to post a few `table overflowing with chillies harvest` shots!

Thanks, fingers crossed it all works out. I will definately have photos. In the meantime there are a heap from the farm from last season up on my facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.496744591950.268102.138670116950&type=3

WTF? Just found two little caterpillar things I've never seen before having a nibble on my plants. Between them and bloody whiteflies.... so gonna give Confidor a burl. Anyone know if it is effective against caterpillars?
