I just looked under one of the two leaves a cucumber seedling has and there was a tiny little version of the caterpillar. Squished him. I hope they don't try to move the whole clan in.

I also acquired a big bag of shadecloth my parents have collected. They NEVER throw anything out, comes in handy somethimes. I pulled it all out and what did I find ?...

That sun is from the very late afternoon and is coming in the side which will be shaded too. I need to hook up the retic and redo the ceiling properly but you get the gist. Big buckets on the stands and smaller pots will go on the shelf.

Nice going mega. What do you plan for grass control?

Yeah I thought about that afterwards :P I can move the bottom racks out and I suppose I'll get crafty with the whippersnipper.

i love the shelving system, did you make it?

Thanks I did :) It isn't bolted to the wall because I'm renting so I made it just hook over the wall and the the bit that sits on the ground takes all the weight. The best part was zero cost because I had access to all the materials, just a few days labour.

Top stuff Harry.

Its great to see so many Aussies smashing out some chilli plants.

Ive got a few mates who like to try and melt eachothers faces.

Sunday poker normally ends with us in tears for all the right reasons :hell:

The boys at work like my chilli relish too. :woohoo:

Cheers Steve

Nice work Harry!!!
How long does it take for them to ripen?
I don't have any data on the time to ripen as this is my first Locato plant ever to set fruit. I did keep track of the first 6 orange Rocoto pods last season that dropped their corollas by 17 December 2011. I harvested the first pod from this batch on 1 March 2011. I left it on the plant a little longer to allow the pod to fully ripen to give the seeds plenty of time to mature. The first pod started to ripen on 2 February 2011.

The sick scorpion could be overwatering, its been my biggest growing problem. I hope your soil is really good draining and there are enough holes in the pots.

They look good though :)

I will try to water a little less than, thought it may be an issue. Thanks mega! =)

I thought it also because the soil looks wet. So yeah try less watering and see what happens but remember I'm no expert. If they start to wilt then they need water and it could be a nutrient issue.

edit: All of them look good except for that one so whatever you're doing is working fine for most.

The Aji Amarillo is looks to be in the best condition out of your Baccatum varieties. The Bishop's Crown leaves should resemble those of your Aji Amarillo plant once you sort out the issues affecting them.

They do appear a bit hungry for Calcium and maybe somewhat affected by some hotter than usual weather. Some of my young plants rolled up at the margins due to heat stress until I relieved them from the heat.

I see that you noticed by the egg shells in some of the photos. Foliar feeding my plants with Calcium and Magnesium Nitrate worked wonders. I was lucky to find it at a Mitre 10 one day.

Thanks Harry :) appreciate the info. So I need calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate? Just on the leaves? How do I apply that stuff? Also it hasn't been that hot here, so I don't think the weather would be a factor.
Cheers :)

I had the option of buying a bottle of Growth Technology CalMagNit (Calcium Nitrate and Magnesium Nitrate) or another bottle that was branded as Liquid Nitrate where the nitrogen was in the form of Calcium Nitrate. I have a 500 mL spray bottle that I put 0.5 mL and then fill up with rain water. I then foliar feed them in the morning by spraying the leaves of the plant in the morning. The instructions on the bottle recommended 1 mL per litre of water.

The thing I liked about foliar feeding is I was able to give the plants a kick along when it was cold and wet without worrying about keeping their root-balls wet.

I should add that the reason I decided on the mixture of Calcium Nitrate and Magnesium Nitrate was the trouble I had with interveinal chlorosis last season. Some of my plants by the symptoms had Magnesium issues. My Jalapeño Not-Mild went on to flower and produce fruit despite the issue.

Calmagnit it is then. Thanks so much for the info. I will give it a crack and post any successes I have on here. Ill
Get a bottle tomoro. Cheers Harry :)
