Wiri's 2020 Vision of Wild(s)

Well it's about time to step up at home plate & present my Wild line-up card. Many players
added will  shore up my batting line-up courtesy of CD, hopefully  hit  a few dingers,go
yard ,clear the bases and  in the end have a # of  web gems to show off.So let the games begin.

Many are proven big leaguers so that should put me ahead of the count, right! And I promise to
play clean, without cheating absolutely no (base) stealing...no, not gonna do it ;) ,speaking of;the
Astros cheating scandal grows with each passing week. enjoying the humiliation thou'.
Another shoe is about to drop on a nearby team...can't wait for Spring Training to begin.

Your plants look great, Sandy! I'm with you that things
seem to be moving slowly in the ripening dept. Our week
of smoky skies and no sun has put the kibosh on the
ripening process here, as well. We need a few more
weeks of sun!

Oh, and for whatever reason that PP Chacoense had a tendency to canoe it's leaves for me as well.  Go figure.
I have noticed the same thing, and a little on some
other wilds as well.

+1, things are looking great.  Very impressed with your curry leaf plants.  Great leaves/structure and they're both looking super healthy and happy.

Have you had any ripe Corbaci of Mari Wiri yet?  I'm curious to hear how you like the pods.

Good luck with the September weather ripening up the stragglers!
Hi CD..sorry for being late here...been a bit crazy  much work, not much off time.

The Corbaci is a bit sweet maybe good for stir fry,no real heat.
The mariwiri has good heat/taste & flavor but somehow the top is a bit tapered but about 4-5 xs the size of the ww...so less picking.
I am trying to find out more info.,(since it did come from Guyana)what the story is but sometimes it's like pulling teeth. :P
Somehow, they don't understand what my pepper obsession is. :)
I grew another new to me call Aribibi Gusano which is now turning white final color and supposed to be hot.I believe it's called Caterpillar pepper.
so here's some photos.

Thanks Paul..sorry for the late reply  been all work ...and then home work..getting things done b/f  the real cold weather
sets in..working on our driveway ..patching cracks...fun stuff. ;)

We are "blessed" with 8 days of decent weather...so have to take advantage of it..many peppers not ripe ..terrible year this is.
And when I think of all the suffering & pain caused by the wild fires out west ..then I have nothing to complain about.
Hope things have improved...it's so sad to see on the news.
Wishing for a better '21. ;)

All your plants look great Wiri, but the one in the first pic is AWESOME! Is that the mariwiri?

And yes, the Aribibi Gusano has some heat. I grew it several years ago and made a nice "white" hot sauce with it. And it was just that -- hot lol.

Thanks DR...sorry i'm lil lateish with a reply...some things cropped up & so had/have  to devote some time to that.

Re: Mariwiri  that is what I was told ... the seeds came from Guyana...it's flavorful/pretty & good heat & it's ~ the size of 5 wiris...
I'll do some research.in the meantime I'll be happy to  share some seeds with you of the mari or wiri wiri..

HaHa!  Love the Halloween treats.  What are the "fingers"?  Breadsticks?  Everything looks great.
Really like the looks of those Aji Guyana.  I may have to give them a try this coming season.

Awesome treats at the Wiri household!  Those fingers though!     I'm curious what they are too.

I love these peppers...Agi   Guyana...besides their great taste& looks,plant is a wonderful producer &  you don't a lot to make sauce d/t the
size of each pepper...grow it & you'll be happy with the results. ;)

I did - thank you - and I was.  The pods are fantastic.  Next year I'll be growing it again and giving it a spot where it can get much bigger.

Tybo:  I have to get the Tovarii seeds ready for you, they are taking their time to ripen ..just like they took to germinate..I can also send you some
Agi Guyana seeds if you need?

Those Halloween treats look scrumptious!
Thanks guys ..the recipe below:

Spooky Witches' Fingers Ingredient

Original recipe yields 60 servings

Ingredient:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup whole almonds
  • 1 (.75 ounce) tube red decorating gel.....strawberry jam work well  also

      Directions Instructions Checklist

    Step 1

Combine the butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Beat together with an electric mixer; gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, continually beating; refrigerate 20 to 30 minutes.

  • Step 2

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.

  • Step 3

Remove dough from refrigerator in small amounts. Scoop 1 heaping teaspoon at a time onto a piece of waxed paper. Use the waxed paper to roll the dough into a thin finger-shaped cookie. Press one almond into one end of each cookie to give the appearance of a long fingernail. Squeeze cookie near the tip and again near the center of each to give the impression of knuckles. You can also cut into the dough with a sharp knife at the same points to help give a more finger-like appearance. Arrange the shaped cookies on the baking sheets.

  • Step 4

Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies are slightly golden in color, 20 to 25 minutes.

  • Step 5

Remove the almond from the end of each cookie; squeeze a small amount of red decorating gel into the cavity; replace the almond to cause the gel to ooze out around the tip of the cookie.

Always happy to get CD's seal of approval. :P

Those witches fingers are great!  Thanks for the recipe.
I look forward to the Tovarii seeds.  I looked up the Aji Guyana peppers and went ahead and ordered some!  Thanks for the offer though.  Let me know when your Tovarii are ready.

They look great! My large outdoor one is doing the same - now I'm wondering whether to pull them up and repot them indoors...

Thanks Siv...your climate is so different to mine (Connecticut) & you probably have many more warm days ahead.."consider" removing one maybe & see how it
goes..I do have 4 plants so I'm hoping next year when they approach yr 2, I can get 1 to  flower & get seeds...but at the same time seedlings are a better option.
Any luck with the seeds...I was very lucky to get 4 seedlings from 3 seeds.
How did the plants from Logee's GH fare?

I got two seedlings from 4 seeds - or maybe they're 4 since they both look doubled up. They're still pretty small and I'm toying with the idea of putting them in a tent. I'm paranoid about losing them in a frost after last year so I want to hedge my bets as much as possible!

Here are the side growth seedlings from the big plant I have now:

And the Logees pandan plants are doing really well. I should really pot them up but I want to keep them on the windowsill so will need to find something suitable.
