Worst halftime show ever!

All I can say is WOW! Did anyone think that was good? The dancers dressed in Christmas lights were kinda cool, but the rest of the performance was absolutely brutal. Maybe I'm just getting old...Nope that's not it. It just plain stunk.

And Aguilera screwed up the national anthem lyrics.

Yeah, kinda makes ya harken back and pine for the good ole days of wardrobe malfunctions, rappers reachin' for and grabbin' their cranks onstage and white trash kidrockers beltin' it out with reckless abandon....ahhhhh, the good ole daze. ;)

Kinda disappointing when the Event turns out to be uneventful, isn't it?

But at least the game held some suspense up until the last minute.

LOL thats almost exactly what my facebook status was. Seriously terrible I didnt even watch most of it. Saw the part when she tried to sing sweet child of mine and left the room again. TERRIBLE. Its the superbowl the old president is there and the best they can get is fergie?!?

It was so bad that this actually made the wiki for a while.

I agree with all the comments..can't imagine why they allowed Christina A to try to sing the national anthem. She screeched rather than sang..even worse she didn't know the words. How can you NOT KNOW the words to the national anthem...what country does she live in????? They need auditions for who sings at the Super Bowls and screeching doesn't count.

Once again, I am glad i didn't waste my time. When the last seconds of the first half ticked away, I got up and found something constructive to do. Long ago I realized what a waste of time Super Bowl halftime was and never watch a second of it. Almost all of the commercials were a total joke too, as usual. The game was good though.

I was not impressed by the half time show, I know there is better talent out in the entertainment business. Maybe we need a change of personal involved in the selection of performers.

I normally try to turn a blind eye to soap boxes I happen to encounter, so as not to waste any heartbeats or increase my blood pressure....but due to this topic of discussion, I have failed once again.

I am soooooo sick and tired of hearing our National Anthem being abused and disrespected like it was once again last night.
I'm not sure why someone feels it necessary to "popularize" the National Anthem while demonstrating their individual singing talents(or lack there of)...by adding musical notes and syllables to words that are not part of the Anthem of the United States.
If they want to show off the range of their voice...sing America the Beautiful, or My Country Tis Of Thee..PLEASE!

I actually recall watching (and the uproar that ensued) after Jose Feliciano played his guitar and sang the Anthem in a folk/blues style before Mickey Lolich took the mound for the Tigers in the 1968 World Series. As 14 year old kid at that time, I felt it was disrespectful, and 43 years later it appears that it has only gotten worse.

As Americans we are all subject to a few simple rules of etiquette and decorum regarding our National Anthem clearly described in the US Flag Code.(TITLE 36, Subtitle I, Part A,CHAPTER 3,Sec.301)
Specifically, even in the the absence of the American flag itself, we are to show the same identical respect to the playing of The National Anthem.
I am both a proud American, and a veteran, and I find it increasingly challenging to respectfully salute a rendition where the melody oftentimes bears little if any resemblance to our country's Anthem. I had that same feeling in my gut last night when, while panning the crowd, the camera's showed tortured looks on the faces of servicemen and players alike as melodic flow of The Anthem was butchered and "made up" lyrics were added by some over the hill, wannabe... ...here today, gone tomorrow pop star.

Ok...I'll be exiting the soap box now...sorry for the sermon.

Hendrix gets a pass.

1st off steelers lost  it was a good game!
as for the halftime show I only caught a glimpse of it & I just shook my head & laughed, I gave up watching halftime shows years ago cuz most of them suck...during that time I do something else.

as for christina singing the national anthem :stop: wasnt impressed at all :snooty:
I agree with chili monsta about certain singers disgracing the national anthem by trying to sing it, to sing the national anthem you need that beautiful voice & know how to sing the anthem! IMO theres very few that has did justice singing the anthem for the super bowl's.

the commercials were lame, only a couple made me laugh.

Pretty uneventful really overall. The game had a lack of fire to it I thought. Even ended dull........no drama in a 4th down pass with little hope near midfield. Was kind of pulling for the Pack (don't know why) but couldn't stay interested in it enough to even watch all of it.

The entertainers on the other hand were not boring........they were just freakin' horrible!!! Had to at least catch a glimpse of that trainwreck.

I completely agree that her rendition stunk, but I don't see it as disrespectful. She, as an artist (I am not a Christina Aguilera fan), presumably sung to the best of her ability in a way that I would guess she thought was heartfelt. If it was heartfelt, then I would assume she was trying to show it the utmost respect. From what I could tell, she did not actively try to mock the song. She forgot the words which I agree is crazy but lets remember the pressure of singing in front of millions (I am including people watching at home). Lets also remember that Neil Armstrong was actually supposed to say that's one small step for a man one giant leap for mankind. I know she is a profession and more than likely was paid well, but people still make mistakes. I also understand that it is more than just a song or more than just a flag, but to me you should not tell someone how to express their love for their country and countrymen. If singing the national anthem in a folk style is a way for someone to show their love then I think it is appropriate. I can understand if you do not like it and you have every right to find it disrespectful.

I hope you don't read this post as derisive or an attempt to prove you wrong. That is not my intention. I am simply trying to present another way to look at the event in question. Most things in life are not clear cut although there are plenty of times that I wish they were. Respect, in my opinion, falls under this category. For example, I know several people who find it disrespectful for people to walk into their house with a hat on. To me, if a person walks into my house with a hat on I don't even pay attention to it. It is just another article of clothing.

On a side note, why is the entire poem never sung? I wonder if Key would have found that disrespectful?
