Even the Apple ownership experience is fading ... had shit support last week, and both of my last two iMacs have had a blown pixel upon arrival.

Y U NO EASYPOST?

Wow, you went there huh?   Customer service is a cornerstone of my company - I think the vendor feedback forum validates that statement.

Your laziness with the English language does not constitute a lack of customer service on my behalf - as I said, I go ahead & change everything for those who write like you do. I've never written to chastise a customer for it, and I certainly wouldn't reject an order on the basis of it not being properly formatted.

I just shake my head and sigh wistfully for a time past when we communicated via the written word, and people judged you for your poor grammar or laziness in formatting.

Some still might...
;)

And this is the "grinds my gears" topic - I was merely confiding in you, the good people of THP, that such a thing does in fact grind my gears. If you wish to get defensive about it that's cool, but it has nothing to do with the caliber of customer service that I provide - if anything I've gone above and beyond in correcting the failures of the lazy among us.

wait, i'm confused, i guess ... or maybe that meme is open to more interpretation that i'm not intending, and can't figure out ...

the use of the dylan song didn't put you at ease, as maybe i thought it would ...

i'm saying that we live in a world where customer service isn't really on people's minds the way it used to be, because it's been replaced by automation ...

now, when something comes wrong or broken from amazon, i click a button and it comes again, and a label gets printed out to return the original ... actually, NOW, UPS comes and picks up your amazon return from your doorstep too.

it's a "what really grinds my gears" post ... unless it's something that doesn't grind your gears, then it's just grating, i guess ...

it's all good, i'm sure your customer service is phenomenal or there wouldn't be an entire site of people loving and promoting it ...

i wouldn't have mentioned a good solution to the problem of address  updating if i wanted to take a cheap shot at your customer service ...

these days, getting the 2nd part of the zip code and having the HTML form data sanitized is a single API call to a free service ...

Hmmm,.... not sure where grantmichaels post is going to as it seems to be channeling TB with the short statements and double spaced, but is also non-capitalized and no punctuated.  That's just... I dunnowhat....

Are you Going down the TB thread for short splats or just going down the typing-on-a=phoane-and-typing-lazy-train???

PS- to LDHS- I hear ya. bro~  The orders that come in and how they are written...:banghead:

I hear ya - no worries - you didn't grind my gears.

I kinda took the meme as "you won't correct my lack of capitalization, therefore you have poor customer service". Obviously I took it the wrong way, and in doing so I ground my own gears.
:D

i think i just found it ironic to complain about having lazy customers while being lazy about fixing their mistakes ... it's all good ...
i'm still confused ... why are you both having to do work? ...

are you taking handwritten orders or god forbif, facsimiles? :shudder: ...

your site should be sanitizing the user input, so, i'm confused still ...

i'm actually just trying to help you solve the problem ...

Ok, no mistaking that. There's no irony - my customers have free text fields to type in. I don't have control over the formatting - it certainly does not automatically fix it.

And how exactly is fixing someone else's lazy mistakes making me lazy? I'm being productive. Leaving something broken is lazy. Fixing = productivity.

We'll have to agree to disagree - suffice to say that my orders come in as they come in on my site. I can't fix it - I can however lament that more and more people don't give a shit about grammar or punctuation. And there just aren't enough hours in the day to where I think to myself, "man, I'm so bored - when I'm done working my market, making deliveries, doing my accounting and packing these 15 packages, i sure hope i get to spend some quality time capitalizing people's address fields for them!"
-said no one, ever.

Now my gears are ground again.

so, your site is broken ... fix it ;) ...

make sure at the very least that it's not susceptible to SQL injection ...

it would be better to fix the interface to sanitize the form input than to correct the capitalization manually ...

i'll lament how more and more sites don't give a shit about securing user data while you romance grammar ...

grinds my gears ...

admittedly I was a bit cantankerous last night ... sorry LDHS ...

It's cool - I use Shopify. I can't fix it.

Ya know what really grinds my gears?  People who run stop signs and/or don't understand right of way. In my neighborhood we have a train track with 6-way stops - it's a total clusterf**k every single time. When you're making a left turn, invariably 2 cars will go straight (which cuts you off) and usually because the 2nd car runs the stop sign. And often the car waiting to the left starts creeping forward because they don't realize a turn signal means you're turning  so you end up almost hitting them as they roll through their stop sign - when if they'd just wait 8 goddamn seconds it wouldn't be an issue.

I know several people who've been in serious car accidents because of people who run stop signs.  So what, you think you're so damn special that the rules don't apply to you huh?  Or people at the red light who are turning when you're going straight and they "jump" the light, going balls out to make their left turn in front of you when you're going straight. Once again, Mr f**king Important can't be bothered with the rules of the road so he puts everyone's safety in jeopardy.

When Im used to using "I Cant Believe Its Not Butter" brand margarine and the price takes a sharp uptick so now we're using "Blue Bonnet" not that I cant get used to the flavor difference hut because Blue Bonnet is friggin slippery, all I want to do is spread some on my sourdough bread to dip into my clam chowda, but the stuff just keeps sliding off my butter knife as if its hot, its not, now its on the floor, the counter, some in the sink, on my dang fingers and hands but just wont stay on the knife long enough to make it to my bread....and that folks.....

...really grinds my gears. :(

One thing that really grinds my gears is coworkers that take 45 minutes just to acknowledge and email (to say nothing about answering it), to look into/fix something that is pretty critical to my job, and for which I'm rated annually.

Had an issue with my IP phone, and emailed the phone guy. He didn't even reply back until 45 minutes later, when my coworkers were taking calls and handling things.

Best run-on sentence eva!

Really grinds SL's gears
Once I hit the "Add Reply" button, I knew it was gonna grind someones gears, wasnt intentional, I promise Salsa Lady.

My gears were still grinding from that damned slippery margin.
*edit: margarine

I guess I must also add that I do 95% of forum posting from my phone, so if it seems like my spelling isnt right, its because my fingers are too large for this samall screen finger bangin nonsense. Gears regrinding as I bang this out.

A run on sentence is different than no punctuation, so 2Goat's post, while it is long and rambling, is grammatically correct, at least as far as I can tell, although I didn't critique it specifically for typos, etc.

just going on and on with no sentence delineation is what grinds my gears not using capitals or punctuation of any kind I mean seriously cant they even find a comma or apostrophy

edit- to make it general and not like I was talking specifically to 2Goats~  :D

What else grinds my gears? Touch screens cell phones, which is why I love Blackberries with Qwerty keypads, among other reasons. My fingers are too big for those little touch screen phones digital keypads. Plus, I just love the ability to press a button and end the call without any thing extra. Those touch screens you have to touch the screen to get it to awaken, then touch end call to do so, which sucks if your driving. I like to just press a button and know the call has ended. Plus, Blackberry has other quicker features I appreciate that touch screens dont have. Can you tell how much I hate touch screen phones? I like rugged, and touch screens for most models just dont cut it. I am also starting to hate smart phones in general. Data costs way too much, and the ability to abuse my privacy is just unacceptable. I don't need the ability to watch a movie, download this or that or whatever. I rather keep my money and my freedom. Fuk smart phones and that technology. Going to completely digital in all aspects is foolish in my opinion. People will get so 'trained' that if the shit hits the fan, they are screwed. If you cannot do anything without using tech, you are effed.
