movies Your favorite movie

Favorite movie is one about Native Americans "Wind Walker" yes it's an old one, about 1980. I would rather read as so many books get ruined or are diswappointing once they are movies. Stephen King is great but I don't care for horror movies, yeah showing my age...tell me a good story.
What's old about 1980?

I agree with you, also I've seen the film first then read the book and it's never the same. The one film that I really think didn't let the book down was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I saw The Chronicles of Narnia too but I preferred the original.

In the spirit of the OP, I can't get over

THE MIST

which I watched again last night. Frigging Awesome.

By far the best stephen king adaptation ever.

That is what was so awesome about the Mist.

It is my favorite short story, and aside from some very minor changes, it was completely true to the original work.

I like a ton of movies but if I had to select say 5 or 6 all time favs they would be (in no order)
Gladiator
To Kill A Mockingbird
A River Runs Through It (gee wonder why?)
Deliverance (a creepy what would you do in this situation )
The 10 Commandments
Monty Python And The Holy Grail
The entire Star Wars saga
Braveheart (Im part Scot/Irish)
Of Mice and Men (with Malkovich and Sienise)
Ok more than 5 or 6 :)

Two of my favorites that are yet to be mentioned:

Raising Arizona ("Sometimes I get the menstual cramps real hard")

and

Napolean Dynomite

Damn - a fave movie is hard to pick.

for a thriller i like a John LeCarre...(still way better to read the books though)

for cartoon/animation
Samurai Jack
Futurama
Wallace & Gromit

for getting twisted in front of the screen....

Natural Born Killers
2001 space odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Mars Attacks
Jackie Chan - The Legend of Drunken Master

.......& about 40 others :D

I got two for you then. American Movie (get the DVD with special features so you can watch the movie they make in the movie) and Spellbound. If you looked up "unintentional comedy" in an encyclopedia, American Movie would be the definition.

I'm sorry the entire star wars saga? The new ones made me sick. From the annoyingly unloveable new characters, to the unrealistic and unbelieveable stunts that would heve never made their way into the first ones, to the unbelieveably bad CGI....which part was your favorite?

Bwahahaha! Boy you hit the nail on the head. Ugh, those movies were a tragidy for the most part.

Yes, you are right to say "for the mosty part". They couldn't screw it up completely, but damn! They sure tried.

P.S. I wouldn't have said anything flyfishing, except that the rest of your list was so great. This just stood out like a rotting pile of poorly made prequels!;)

Star Wars...I dunno I think those new episodes...

they really could have fit a bit more meaningless emotional drama into it, i mean they had the wooden characters all set up & more than enough pathetic, two-toned dialogue. The script worked well in the first season of General Hospital & has given Days of our lives plenty of good years. They could have milked it for way more emotion.

I was more than a little disappointed.

erm difficult but...

The Shawshank Redemption
Lord of the rings triology
Aliens
T2
The Third Man
Casablanca
Citizen kane
Amadeus

I love old 80's comedies especially anything with John Candy. My fav is probably Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Also any Clint Estwood movie except that crappy musical western:lol:
