my first bhut jolokia grow log

Mine look like your second picture. Everyone says Superhots are hard to germinate, but I just put mine outside and I just bring them in when the temp gets below 40 at night and I have a 75% germination rate with my Bhut Jolokia Reds/Yellows and Doset Nagas. I used some cut-off milk jugs as a...

Is "Worlds Hottest" just a myth for the backyard garden?

Is "Worlds Hottest" just a myth for the backyard garden? Someone’s got to have the “Worlds Hottest” pepper, but we all know growing conditions very at every backyard. My wife bought me some pepper seeds for Christmas and at first I thought how am I going to eat these. Four of...

How do you eat your Super Hots?

It seems the people here like their Super Hot peppers. But how do you eat them? I've seen the videos on You Tube. You can't just eat them right off the bush like Thai Hots can you? Do you cut them real thin for pizza, dice them in Chilli, or make powder out of them?

    What to plant next?

I have a Habenero on my sandwich at work everyday, so I'm ready to go up the scale. All of my plants are Bonnie Plants bought from Lowes/Home Depot. I'll need to plant from seed if I want anything hotter. Thanks for the offer, but I don't have anything worth trading. You could tell me a good...

    What to plant next?

First year I grew Jalepenos & Cayennes. The second year I grew Jalapenos, Serranos, Tabasco, Thai Hot, and Habeneros. What should I try next spring?

    pests Safest pesticide for aphids?

I read an article that pesticides kill all the bugs, good ones also, so it was best to do nothing. The good bugs will come after the bad bugs eventually. I had a Habanero that was loaded with aphids. I decided to let it be the sacrificial plant in my garden. It struggled for a couple of weeks...

    Green Habs

Well, I ate it on a frozen pizza. It wasnt as hot as I thought it should be. Then again I sliced it real thin and only used one on the whole pizza. At least I'm not afraid of my Habs now. Good thing since I have 4 of them growing in my garden.

    Green Habs

First time hab grower here. I know that they will be HOT when ripe, but I want to work my way up to there heat level. Would eating a couple of green ones be a good test first, then work my way up to ripe ones? Last year I only grew Jalapenos and I'm scared of my habs!

    Compost

I was just going to tip mine over and roll it on the ground to give it some oxygen. Seems alot easyer that building a tumbler.

    Bucket size for Habeneros

I know bigger is better, but will 2 1/2 gallon buckets be big enough for habineros? I just bought 4 plants from home depot, but I only have space for 2 in my small raised garden.

    Freeze vs frost?

Well it got down to 34 last night. I think there was some frost on the grass and my windshied was frozen. It is going to warm back up this week, so if my peppers survived, I will move them the next time it gets cold.
