How to tell when it's time to change T5 bulbs

Ok, thanks. The reason I asked is that when I used T12s and T8s  they used to gradually (and noticeably) loose light output, which effected my plants growth. They became worthless long before they burnt out.

How to tell when it's time to change T5 bulbs

I have used my T5s fixtures for 5 years now (without changing). I would say they run 7-8 hours a day for 3-4 months a year. The light (brightness) seems fine to me, but I'm sure my peppers feel different :) Can someone tell me how to tell when it's time to change the bulbs?

    Cheating on next years grow

dragon49, thanks for your post. I'll definitely try to do it your way this winter. Do I even need to leave any leaves at all on the cutting?

    What makes peppers bumpy?

I have the same thing with my carolina reapers, some are bumpy, some are pretty smooth (from the same plant). The heat level is the same for either (according to my mouth :). Not sure what the deal is, but I too would like to hear from somebody who can explain it.

    Variation in shapes and sizes

Same here, my first pods are bigger and later, when it gets colder I get smaller pods. If I use seeds from smaller pods, I still get normal size plants and fruits.

    not a reaper, but what?

I made a mistake ordering reaper plants from hirt's gardens (never again and don't recommend anyone to buy from them). So I didn't get reapers, but some other peppers. Here's the pictures from 3 plants, maybe someone can id them.

    One Reaper vs Another

I wanted to post a pic. of my non-reaper reaper from plants I got from hirt's gardens, but couldn't find a way to do it. Is outside photo storing site a must, or I'm just not smart enough?

    hibernation

Thanks for the link. I read it before but it's not what I'm looking for. I don't want just to overwinter them, I want to find ways for them to be dormant as much as possible - no growth at all if possible. The way I see it I have to find optimal stem size, root size, pot size, watering schedule...

    hibernation

I'm starting to plan overwintering my peppers and would like to know if there are proven ways to make peppers hibernate through winter. I'm planning on bringing more than 10 5-7 gal pots inside and don't want to invest in grow lights for so many plants. Also I want to avoid aphids infestation...

Carolina Reaper flowers falling off !?

Mine are falling of right now too due to the heat (90-100F). When the temperature difference between night and day will start to increase I will have fruit set for sure. If it's not due to the heat, then it can be a number of problems, including bad pollination. On my flowers (peppers and...
