    Leaves and stems curling down

The soil looks dry to me & your mention of them being dry for two days would indicate that they likely need water.

soil I acquired a bunch of garden soil... What to do?

I use the MG Garden soil in raised beds and containers.  The product may vary across the country, but down here I would not dream of using it without mixing in generous amounts of perlite.  It is just too wet & dense otherwise, imho.

Noob question on perlite vs vermiculite. Question about expanded shale added

I'm using the big bags from HD this year : http://www.homedepot.com/p/THERMOROCK-2-cu-ft-Perlite-489701/202187623   They also have vermiculite:  http://www.homedepot.com/p/THERMOROCK-2-cu-ft-Medium-Grade-Vermiculite-489702/202187625   Good luck!

    vendor pepperlover.com

I just received my second order from Pepperlover.com & it had more bonus packs than ordered packs.   I ordered another four varities last night, might have to buy extra acreage to grow the bonus seeds.  :P   99% germination on my White Bhuts in only 9 days outside.  If there's a better seed...

    Transplanting in Florida heat.

Cayennes do great in the full sun here in Lake county.  My Tabasco and Grove peppers did best with 2-3 hours direct and the rest dappled light from tree cover.  I wouldn't hesitate to use shade cloth if no tree cover is available.

    I've got a fever...

...and the only prescription is MORE HOT SAUCE! New guy here, finally decided to jump in head first. My central FL garden has two cayennes, one hab and eight tabascos. I recently made my first hot sauce/salsa based on a modified recipe from SalsaLady's post #3 in this thread...
