Tooninoz, Pickling salt is recommend because it does not have iodine in it. Iodine in regular US table salt can possibly turn the item being pickled into an unsightly grey color. I used regular salt once when making a hot jelly with red onions, and some of the red onions turned slight grey...

When I sold restaurant supply equipment.. this was the mack daddy for professional kitchens. Probably overkill for most folks.. but this is one bad azz machine I would not mind owning one day.

Souf, How long did these take? I have had two on a coffe filter since November 9th and no germination yet.

Patience is good.. but so is knowing what is going on. Nothing wrong with either, and a good deal of patience has been already displayed.
