do any of you guys ever try to compost directly into a potted pepper plant? i have a yellow bhut jolokia i brought inside this winter, and overwintered it. about mid december, the pepper started taking off again, with several new nodes and even started flowering, and setting tiny pods. figuring...
So I am planning on canning my jalapenos today and have a few questions.
1. Am I able to use starsan to sanitize the jars, versus boiling the jars? Or is the boil intended to heat the jar and create some sort of suction to seal the lid?
2. Once all my peppers are in the jar with the boiled...
Ok, I have 2 plants growing these types, not sure what they are. Any guesses? they seem like little pumpkin/gourd'ish shaped guys. I grew so many plants this year and all my labels washed off :(
ok so i have a bhut jolokia with tons of pods on it, most are green. one has recently turned a canary/pale yellow. will the color progress further? most I see online are like an orange/red.
how long do you guys typically leave jalapenos on the plant? i am going for maximum strength in terms of heat. i am assuming the longer the better? what would be a good guestimate of total time it should be left on, after the pod is formed (pretty much full size, 2-3")
Ok so I have a bhut that is probably 12-14" tall, i just pruned the leaves from the stalk. however, there appear to be 2 nodes like 1cm from the ground, they are small, maybe an inch or less in length. Should i cut those back to the stalk as well?
1. Approximately how much fish material do i need if i plan on filling a 5 gallon bucket with water?
2. Should I add anymore fermentable sugars (honey, molasses, etc?)
3. I have some London Ale yeast left over from an IPA brew (el gigante, as I call it....), would adding this aid in the...
I am anxious to plant my plants outside and get some real growth on them. Im probably about halfway hardened off, and the plants range from about an inch to 2 inches tall.
At what height should they be planted outdoors, in non container settings (straight into the ground)?
are there any compiled spreadsheets on pepper breeds, and time until expected pod production? I cant help but look at some of the plant pictures on here, and wonder if i started too late in the season. are there breeds that bear pods early, or notoriously take longer?
Hello,
First post here ever. I have always loved hot peppers and got a jump on this season, ive currently got 110 plants that I am hardening off. I have no idea why I planted so many, but i was hell bent on getting a really good crop.
Anyway, my question centers around heat levels of peppers...
