I guess I am behind on starting my peppers this year. I ordered some seeds from John Ford's Fiery Foods last weekend and have not heard a word from them yet so I emailed them tonight asking about shipping information. I am keeping my pepper growing way shorter than anyone elses on here this...
50°F nights are why I am looking to cut and hang my plants. It's not like the flowers on the plants are going to form into pods. Plus I don't want to chance losing the pods I do have. Call it rookie jitters.
Just thought of another question or two. If I freeze the pods that develop while hanging in the basement should I half them and remove the seeds first or does it matter? Speaking of hanging, do I need to hang these plants under the grow lights or does that not matter?
On a side note: ...
The hot ones I am going to dehydrate and then grind into dust to use for cooking. I am going to make ABT's for a buddy of mine with a Ghost Pepper and a Butch "T". He says he can eat anything hot so I am going to test him. I made Habanero ABT's for him this summer and he ate three of them...
I did some today and followed the recipe and procedure above. We will see how it turns out in two weeks.
Pickled Banana Peppers done today:
Which peppers are considered thin walled? I am guessing Ghost's and Trinidads but not Jalapeno's right?
I am having a hard time cutting my plants. I really like the Christmas ornament look to the pods hanging off the branches. ;)
Some pic's from today:
Some pods I harvested yesterday and today.
My pickling setup outside on the deck...Happy wife, Happy life!!!
Here are some...
Well...I finally am getting off my ass and posting these pic's. Here are my Trinidad Scorpion, Bhut Jolokia and one of my Hab's. I am going to do as suggested above and cut them off at the stock and hang them upside down so they can get ripe. One question though. Do I need to have them under...
Here are my latest pic's.

You can't tell from the pic's but my two super hot's are starting to get some color.
Have a great night everyone!!!
Hey everyone...I picked 7 Habanero's this morning to share with a couple of the sup's at work. I called one of then this afternoon to see if he tried one yet. He tried it while on the phone with me which was very amusing to listen to. You could air whooshing in as he tried to take a breath...
BB....have you tried doing the recipe you posted for the Banana Peppers exactly the way they say to do it? Did they turn out all mushy like most people say peppers do?
