I'm certain I did not mix up the seeds - I had all other seeds already in storage or in the dirt before I collected seeds from the dried pods and sowed 16 in rockwool (4 per cell) on Feb 27 in a tray I've kept marked and set aside. So I'm pleased to confirm a germination! It's wearing a helmet, of course, but I'm letting a drop or two of water soften that before I attempt any surgery.

Who knows. Took a few double handfuls of berries, slapped them into a Ninja, pulse a few, sifted, and scattered. Thousands? Maybe 2,000?

So, it looks like it took 30 days to germinate. I still got a week or two to go. There's still hope!

I have already passed this mark (1 month on March 24). Yesterday I took the seeds out of the heat mat and placed them at room temperature. I don't know if this will help, but I have noticed that sometimes, after being kept at a higher temperature, a sudden change (drop) in temperature can trigger some stubborn seeds to germinate. Either way, there's not much to lose at this point!

Seeds got wet March 27th and today April 8th we have our first hook. Prepare for defeat.

Besides I figured the promise of old seeds, grim outlooks and the threat of actual work/challenge would deter future seed snipers who always seem to vote and get seeds but never post after that

Maybe, but for those who do grow, post and keep this thing alive it's disappointing... If you had asked, I would still have been willing to participate in your germination experiment.There have been more since I snapped that photo.

I don't think it was the best move for a Growdown because now most of us won't be able to participate in this year's comp at all. My two cents...
Besides, I'm glad you got some sprouts so you can replenish your seed stocks at the end of the season.

I was very open about needing to freshen this inventory up from the beginning of us chatting about Aji Charapita. This is sort of by design. A challenging growdown year, uncertain seed viability and a mystery poll to boot.

Maybe I missed something, but you opened up about it after Charapita was "elected", before that you only said "There is still a lot of bad Aji Charapita floating around out there and I need to freshen this inventory up anyway. ---Pictures--- If we decide on them, I have loads of isolated seed stock."
Anyway, I didn't mean to throw stones at you, I just expressed some sort of disappointment here. And even if just one seed dared to sprout today, chances are my season would not be long enough to harvest mature fruit.
