I have couple of freinds who love bell peppers, so I will probably give them several of the bells, along with some of the Jalapenos, and maybe a select few of the superhots.

With measurable rain twenty-one of the last twenty-four days, the plants are really going strong.
Compare to the post #57 I made June 10 above.

Just saw a small (~3 inch) praying mantis in the pepper patch.

I went to get my phone to snap a pic, but it had moved before I got back.

It is good to know I have pest control in place. Hopefully, there are several more.

EDIT:

Found it again:

Get 'em, boy!

Quite few pods, just waiting for them to ripen.

No rain today, but it has rained at least some twenty-five of the last thirty days. And it is supposed to rain tomorrow afternoon thru Wednesday.

Anyway, a few pics, if I had two more hands, I could really spread out these bushes and get a good view, but, a small sample:

Yellow 7-pot, but looks sort of atypical to my untrained eye...

An update:

Looking for ripe pods after work this afternoon, not much, but I did find something interesting.

Last year, I posted http://thehotpepper.com/topic/51125-not-king-nagas-but-what/#entry1066916, about what were supposed to be King Nagas, but the general consensus was they were 7-Pot Yellow.

Well, since I had never had any 7-Pot Yellow seeds, I saved some seeds from two of the gnarlier pods, thinking they were an unintentional cross from the vendor.

I germinated four plants from those seeds. I see one of the plants producing yellow pods, two others are still green, therefore it is too early to tell, and one plants produced these:

Two appear to be normal Brown Large Scorpion, the the top left one...not typical, closeup below.

Obviously, not yellow.

Now, the parent plant last year was growing next to the Brown Large Scorpion http://thehotpepper.com/topic/45153-alkhall-2014/page-2#entry1061284, itself an unexpected mutation from the Red Large Scorpion seeds I planted.

Anyway, it appears I have a 7-Pot Yellow/King Naga/Brown Large Scorpion hybrid. Definitely keeping seeds from the gnarly one, and any others like it.

Some great looking plants and pods. Awesome find with the unknown cross. Keep us posted on how the heat and flavor is.
Thanks.

All the rain this last month really seems to have helped.

I will let the pod sit for a couple of days before I take the seeds, then give it a taste test.

OK, today I took the seeds from the brown cross.

Opened up:

Not a lot of seeds.

I ate the little piece from the end:

IMG_20150716_165243447.jpg

My first impression was banana and green apple.

I would say maybe Habanero heat, hit the throat rather quickly, then built on the tongue, only lasted about ten minutes. Not bad at all.

However, that was merely the end, and we all know it gets much hotter toward the stem.

I am letting this one air dry.

Two weeks since last post, not a lot to report.

Although I must say, plants are doing really well, loaded with pods. I imagine in a couple of weeks I will be pulling dozens at a time.

Anyway, some pics:

One of the bucket tomatoes (Roma VF) I have so many tomatoes, I am giving the neighbors several dozen a week.

Wow, good looking and big pods. How's the taste on those Yellow Sun Habaneros ?
Thanks.

I have not tried one yet, I am letting them 'soften up' a bit and then some of them are going into a Yellow Sauce, along with some of my Yellow 7-Pot cross (which I have tried, and are stupid hot! So much so, that I really did not get any 'taste'), some Yellow Brainstrain, and some Ecuadoran Hot Lemon Cayenne, mango, pineapple and other ingredients.

Picked a few this afternoon:

Top row - Red Brainstrain
Second row - Yellow Brainstrain
Third row -Red Savina Habanero
Fourth row - Yellow Sun Habanero, Brown Large Scorpion (this plant is producing atypical pods, almost Brainstrain-like)
Fifth row - 7-Pot Wes
Bottom two rows - Jamaican Hot Chocolate Habanero
