BREAKFAST!!!

I was looking for a breakfast thread and never found one that seemed open-ended enough to post on. So here y'all go!

Posty up your breakfast if you like, even if it's cold leftover pizza.

No time for words? No problem. Show us your awesome yellowish cell phone camera pic. No obligation to write out a recipe here if you don't want to.

Forgot to take a picture until halfway through the meal? Perfect! Selfie photo-op.

Whoops! You made brunch instead? That's cool... it counts.

I'll go first with a take on a Cuban breakfast called Huevos Habaneros. It means Havana Eggs, but it's not made with Habaneros. In fact, it's not traditionally spicy hot. (Cuban meals typically aren't.) So, I had to SoFlo it up a bit and call it something different.

These are eggs baked over sofrito with butter on top in a custard cup for about 12 minutes at 375 F (yolks are still a bit runny). Then topped with more sofrito and garnished with some cayenne powder, but sofrito isn't spicy hot either. So...

Sofrito Caliente

(Enough for one serving)

1/4 cup chopped onion
1 Fresno pepper (cored and chopped)
1 green jalapeno (cored and chopped)
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 cup peeled, cored, chopped tomato
olive oil for sauteing

Saute the onion and peppers till the onion is translucent. Then add the garlic and cumin for a minute more. Then toss in the tomato for another minute or two. Salt and black pepper to taste.

Do it up y'all!

Let's see what breaks your fast.

That styrofoam container implies that your breakfast was take-out. I don't know what to make of that.

That's a white square plate.

Very cheffy foo foo.

Worthy of cooking shows n' sheeit.

Most excellente' presentation!

Ok some truths... That spectacular breakfast was indeed take out. BUT I was the chef who toasted that bread oh so perfectly. And that white square plate was complements of the chef. Comes free with every take out toast order.

Nice work TB. Looks scrumptious.  Now that is a word I need to use more often.  lol

I was a little foggy this morning... Had to settle for a ham egg and cheese from my local deli.  Double egg double cheese and a healthy splooging of Lucky Dog Hot Sauce Black Label.  That hit the spot!

You even have the caffeine covered!  I always get weird looks when I am ordering eggs for breakfast and I ask for a Coke.  Another pretty pic too!

I need to get me a new lens.... Or learn more about how to use my camera.

Hmmm. My Galaxy S4 doesn't have a spot for a lens. Guess that explains why others have better pics than me.

Thanks guys.  Still being lazy and shooting in auto mode.  Sum I will give that a try.  Thanks!
There is nothing wrong with auto, start to [pay attention to the settings used when in auto and slowly ween yourself over to manual. Unless you have good natural light, you might find it very hard to use manual without flash and hand hold the camera. As Sum said, diffuse the flash and it can do wonders.

Oh and great use of leftover and awesome sandwich!

Looks like he is. Husker, try putting a piece of paper in front of your flash so it shoots through it, and maybe angle the paper a little so it bounces some flash off the ceiling. See if that tones down your shadows any. Still a good pic.
