Alrighty folks! It's almost plant out time and that means that my basement and lights are going to be freed up for some crossing projects through the summer.

I have 4 DWC buckets available for growing peppers indoors all summer. (not to mention racks for seedling growout)
2 spots are already taken by White Fatalii and CGN-21500.

These Plants will be the Base for all my other crosses. Meaning that I will use pollen from plants that are outdoors in the rest of my collection crossed with these. These will be tagged and harvested and grown out in the basement to choose phenos. I'm planning on going for taste more than heat.

Plants to choose from

My biggest focus will be crossing the White Fatalii with CGN-21500 but will do plenty of other crosses with them as well.

Once the poll is complete Thursday night- the two winning plants will be moved to the hydro system and this thread will serve as my grow log for this project.

Y'all are more than welcome to offer suggestions as to what you would like to see crossed with what as well. I'm sure I will be sharing seeds with most of you at some point (prolly F2? maybe some F1's)

D3, when you sent me pods a while back I saved some of the seeds. Is it okay with you if I grow any of them out? I definitely want to give the Aji Painapple a go, and possibly El Scorponero. Those were my favorites from your crosses last year. Just now starting to sort out what I want to grow next year, but want to put those in queue if you don't mind.

Absolutely, i've sent out lots of seeds. I may hit you up for seeds in  return if I spot any phenos I like though.

D3, you doing any cool crosses for this upcoming season?

Not sure yet, I was just getting ready to go through my seeds and see what I was going to grow. Most of my plants will be from the crosses.

I do have a aji omni color X moa yellow bonnet I crossed this past summer that i'm going to grow out for first time. Hopefully the seeds germ. The pod had got munched on a little by something.

My work schedule was so hectic that I really didn't get much time out in the garden to do any crosses. Been trying to find a different job that pays better with more stable hours... or at least not 70-90 hours a week. Applied to the nuke plant, still on wait list at refinery but I hear they getting bought out by some venezuelan company and going non union. They may eliminate the wait list or they may lose enough people I will get brought in. I could care less if i'm union or not as long as the pay and benefits are still good.

Hey hey, the Aji Inti F3 opened flowers first. The El Scorponero F2 has got buds but no flowers yet. Other two crosses are still a bit behind, the real fun should start about end of Feb / March, but I wanted to post at least one progress pic.

These flowers seem similar to previous generations, can't wait to see what the pods look like. p.s. not sure why the leaves look so pale here, they're actually a bit darker than this.

Looks great, loaded with pollen too! I'm just soaking some the F3 seeds. Hopefully these are similar to the Second Gen I saved seeds from. Very tasty pods.

The long one toward the middle was the one I really liked. Had sort of a sour apple flavor to it. The round greenish one pretty similar in flavor. One of the two orange ones had a dish soap taste and wasn't good at all

Is that plant relatively tall/lanky compared to the others?

Yeah man, all these F3 plants are much taller than the rest. I actually had to top one because it got way too tall and I was worried it was gonna collapse. The rest arent topped as they started budding but they aren't as bushy as the rest (or even what I'm normally used to). Kinda reminds me of Aji Amarillo, I've had the same thing with those growing real tall and then collapsing.

That's how this one was, real tall and spindly. Wasn't sure if it was just because it was growing in the greenhouse or if it was genetic. All the others had thicker branches.

Have one each of El Scorponero and Aji Painapple f2's sprout in my AeroGarden.

Great idea for covering the little baskets in your aerogarden!
