Kramer Chids 2012 (indoor) / 2013 Glog

I really like the Glogs on this forum as it is such a great way to learn and see what folks are doing and growing.

I grow a lot indoors with most of my collection being Parvisepalum Orchids, a few straggler Tillandsia, violets, dyckia, and Cryptanthus. My son is getting a rather nice collection of Carniverous plants going that includs Nepenthes, Sarracenia, Drosera, and Flytraps. I will post pictures of those later.

I focus my growing as organic as possible and grow under HO T5's. I will be starting the following seeds right now for 2012/2013:

Trinidad Douglah x Trinidad Scorpion (Brown) F3 - (Silver_Surfer)
7 Pod Brain Strain (Red) - (Silver_Surfer)
Trinidad Douglah x Butch T (Red) - (Silver_Surfer)
Chocolate Bhut Jolokia - millworkman
Caramel Bhut Jolokia - millworkman
Red Bhut Jolokia (White towards stem) - millworkman
Chocolate Habanero - millworkman
Trinidad Scorpion Moruga - millworkman
Yellow Fatalii - millworkman
Habanero 'Harold's St. Barts' - Dilly's
7 Pod Brain Strain (Yellow) - Dilly's
Primo

So that is it for now. I guess I will throw in a few pictures.

My first seedlings of the year, Trinidad Douglah x Trinidad Scorpion (Brown) F3 & Trinidad Douglah x Butch T

These things are about to grow right out of their space. I seriously didn't think they would grow so fast or I would have waited to start them and also to start the eight other plants I have going. :D

Here are a few updates.

Wow,.....those plants have some huge (c)leafage...................they're busting out of their solo cups

Seriously, the plants look dynomite!...Not a bad leaf on the bunch

Excellent results, Kramer! I like the great variety
of plants you are propagating!

Looking great KC!
That pepper stem is already becoming a trunk!

Got a couple questions...
I see your using T5's. What size and how many tubes?
As well, what spectrum are you running?

I'm getting stupid amounts of growth under just a T8 dual bulb fixture @6500k.
With T5's your gonna have space issues real soon..
But that's a good problem, too many big healthy plants.

Scratchzilla, Pic 1, PaulG - Thank you so very much. I love growing these things. They are easy and rewarding. I can't wait for fruit. FIERY FRUIT. :)

Ronin - That is actually not my biggest one. I have a Primo that's just growing stupid fast. I think the nutes and air pots really help so thank you for the line on the air pots. Gotta love the marijuana growers and all of the product and technology they provide, W00T Colorado. :D

I'm running them under 4' four bulb HO Hydrofarm Designer units. I have two of those and my son grows all of his carnivorous plants under a 4' eight bulb Hydrofarm Designer unit. I love'em. They are just amazing lights and with access to Denver Craigslist they can be had for cheap. There is an 8 bulb one on there now for $115 that I'm sure could be had for $100. I use the 6500k bulbs. I have some of the 2700k bulbs but I don't use them now. I will wait for flowering or other plants. The plants grow FAST under these things. I keep them on about 15 hours a day usually. I use the GO nutes as well as some of the Age Old Organics. I'm not sure what ones I like best yet so I just mix it up. Oh, and I also use unsulfered black strap molassas. I LOVE the effects that has on the little soil beasties.

A little update for today. Some big news actually...FLOWER BUDS on my Moruga. WOW! I didn't expect them that fast.

One of my Sepia Serpents that I topped is getting some nice new growth happening. I didn't want to top them but they were growing into my lights and sadly I have limited height to work with.

I've officially stopped germing any new seeds right now as I just don't have any more room. Everything is growing really well and more and more buds are showing up. I had to top a few of them as they were hitting into the lights. I'm sure I will have to top more really soon.

Here are some pics from today...

Everything is looking awesome. Very healthy and budding up. I had no idea there were so many varieties of carnivorous plants. So cool!

I haven't done an update in a while. I think since the last time I have had to top some of my plants multiple times. Next year I will have a MUCH taller space to actually take advantage of these things. I really don't know what I was thinking. I have been doing a little pollinating already as well so that's fun. Hopefully a little pod will show up somewhere soon.

I love the advanced botany going on there ^ I'm interested in the media you use, it looks like the rice husks with tree sand/or horticultural grit. Does the carnivorous plant hobby require a lot of special attention and research in this regard?

Wow! Amazing horticultural skills you have. The carnivorous plants and bromeliads are beautiful. Your peppers looks great as well. Glad you started a glog. Best of luck to you, though you obviously don't need it.
