PaulG 2019

No grow log for the 2018 season other than the Pimenta de Neyde x Bonda Ma Jacques
thread dedicated to Trippa's cross. That one is an ongoing community project going into
second year and a test of the F7 generation. I imagine I will mention it once-in-a-while in
this thread, but the details of its progress will be in the dedicated thread.

I am deciding on a grow list for the 2019 season after growing only Trippa's cross this
season (2018). I definitely have some old favorites that will comprise the great majority
of the grow. I have limited space, so I'm counting on nature to help me make the final
decision. I'll probably start lots of seeds since I'm gun-shy from the poor germination
rates the past couple of seasons.

Here's the pool. Would be nice to be able to grow a bunch of all of them!  I think my
neighbor will shelter the overflow in his yard, but we'll see what to plant and how many
based on what might germinate

c. chinese - 10 varieties
  • PdN x BMJ, F7, white and violet varieties, Trippa's cross
  • Fatali, F2 of seed from Pepper Joe's
  • 7 Pot Burgundy, brown phenotype, pecan shape from 2017 F2 of the 7PB from Windchicken
  • Scotch Bonnet, MoA, F2 of seeds from John/Sim, not high production, but some nice pods
  • JA Red Habanero, F5 of seed from Walk Good/Devv
  • Yellow Scorpion, F7 aka Yellow Trinidad Moruga Scorpion and CARDI Scorpion, from Spankycolts plant 2012
  • Bhut Jolokia, Red, F4, from Spankycolts plant 2012
  • Bhut Jolokia, Chocolate, F3 of seed from Georgia Growhead
  • Bhut Jolokia, hybrid, F2 - I believe it is a  (BJred) x (Pdn x BMJ F1 or F2)
  • Yellow 7 Pot, F2 of seed from Trippa 2013
c. annuum - 4 varieties:
  • JA Red Mushroom, F3, brown phenotype, seed from Refining Fire
  • Pimenta de Padron - Spanish seed, fry up while small and green, throw on some salt
  • Pimenta del Piquillo - Spanish seed, sweet, very flavorful, small stuffers
  • Guindilla - Spanish seed, spicy heat, great pickled, long and skinny
c. frutescens - 2 varieties:
  • Nagahari from Tezpur, India, supposedly very, very hot freebie from Pepper Joe's 2017
  • Chili Costa Rica, F2 (2014) from Hippy Seed Company seed, 2012
c. pubescens - 1 variety:
  • Red Rocoto, F3 of Peruvian Market seed, 2016
That about does it. Seeding time will be here before we know it!

Lub that house of green you have sir Paul.....The angle of the pic is crazy for me though..it's almost like when you see a picture of a dollhouse or something, like all your stuff is miniature.......man I need to get outside more I think, I am starting to lose it.
I like your posts, Matty, gives me lots
of chances to use the bong   :high:  icon!

Awesome update, and already some plants in the greenhouse?!? Or do you move them back inside at night?

Night temps are in the 40F plus range. A small
space heater can keep the greenhouse warm
enough for the peppers when nights dip below
the low 40s.

The Rocotos and Aji Amarillo like the cooler
temps and the F5s can tolerate a bit of chill.

Everyone looks happy and healthy woot woot
Thanks, Gipper! And thanks for the hand-off

The Red Rocoto seems to be satisfied
with the greenhouse move.

Nice Paul, and already in the greenhouse! Lovely!

I'm not taking any chances and am waiting till mid may. No heater and no pots.
Smart move, friend!

I am only moving a few in to relieve
grow shelf and table space. Only ones
I have multiples of will go out. Taking
maybe 4 more today. We are talking
lows of 38F, and only for a few hours
if we are lucky. And only 2 nights out
of the next 7 days.

Fingers crossed...

So Paul I just looked at your weather AND you suck btw
23C today ....you suck ...you  suck ..... annnnnnnd you suck
I kid I kid
Haha, Matty

Not sorry.

;)

This will pass quickly, brother, unfortunately.
The bright side is that even if the weather isn't
glorious, the long range forecast calls for above
normal low temps this Spring. That makes the
greenhouse a better possibility.

This little Bhut Jolokia Hybrid is not
showing much purple coloration.

Good times in the PNW right now and it looks like you're making the most of them!  Hope the spring will be warm like they say and those guys stay happy in the greenhouse.
Things are looking up, CD. If the long range
forecast holds, the greenhouse should be
okay for the plants with a little bit of heat at
night. If we can hold on until after April first,
we should be good to go if the forecast is correct.

Wow! those plants are GREEN.
I know! They are under such bright light in the grow
spaces, that I'm amazed when I see them in regular light

Healthy looking plants you have there Paul. You are about 3 weeks away from not fitting into the greenhouse anymore.
It will be close, Jacques. I moved a few
more out today to leave a little more room
on the inside grow space for the rest of the
plants. Two more nights in the high 30's in
the next few days, then if the forecast is
accurate enough, the greenhouse will be
good to go. The little space heater helps
it get over the cold spots. I will have to move
a few more out in a few days to a week, and
make the greenhouse arrangement more
efficient, for sure  ;)

Thanks for stopping by, my friend!

The greenhouse is getting a workout...

I gotta say Paul, your plants look so big and beefy. Truly impressive my friend. :fire: :metal:
Thanks, Bobby. This is the first season I have
used Silica Blast in my fertilizing routine. I have
no controls, but I think that the plants are more
robust than in the past.  Could be my imagination!

Looking great Paul, whats that on the top shelf in the bonsai pot?
Thanks, B!  The plant on the top in the greenhouse
is a tray of jade plants. There are 5 or 6 in the planting.

Beeeaauutiful plants Paul!

Good to see them in the greenhouse ;)
Thanks, my friend. Now just to Shepard them to
plant-out with no disasters. Couple of chilly nights
coming (well, one last night, one coming Tuesday)
will be the first little test for them. Hope the little
space heater keeps it at 45 or above. Plants looked
good today when I checked the greenhouse.
