SBS purple ornamental

I wonder if this variety will drop its leaves like some ornamentals do if exposed to cooler weather or retains them. my mother would love a plant like this she's been a chili head for over 70 years she will be turning 92 this December, I wonder if longevity could be added to the health benefits of peppers.

 
Longevity isn't really a health benefit but a combination of many. Given that chilli peppers are known to help against both cancer and heart attacks/strokes, I would not be surprised if they were a significant factor.

Just from reading and looking at pictures it seems there is two different phenos? Looks like one has longer fatter pods. The smaller fruit plant looks to be more purple. I have both growing it seems to the naked eye. Any feedback from the folks that have grown this out? Prodigal sons seems/ looks to be a little different them the one smokemaster has.
