Windows 10: Electronic Tyranny

Tinfoil hat isnt an insult?

Cuz I'm pretty sure thats your name and your words. Need it quoted still?

No, as a matter of fact it is not. It's a colloquialism, and one that's been in use for decades specifically related to what we're discussing. And since I was addressing Grant (who I consider a friend) then context would seem to be important. Perhaps before leaping to be Grant's champion and accusing me of insulting him, you should allow Grant the opportunity to express that he was actually insulted first.

But thank you for trying to be his hero - admirable of you.

Colloquial means slang fyi.

The tinfoil hat is a sort of mocking symbol of paranoia and conspiracy theory advocacy, derived by the use of some paranoid schizophrenics with persecution and mind control delusions of metal foil hats to protect them from perceived mind control rays (no, seriously, but do have some sympathy, unless they get into office). Despite the name "tinfoil," the hats are almost universally made from aluminium.

I dont need grant to be insulted first to know its an insult.

I am well aware of what it means.

And I used the term correctly.

And when speaking to Grant, no insult was intended. You are inferring something.

Never assume. It makes an ass | u | me
Keep trolling dude. Someone will bite someday. It won't be me, but I am bemused by your weak attempts.

This detout isn't as interesting as the tech ...

I realize all of this will be used to protect and enslave me ...

Here's the end-game from my POV ...

I want the same surveillance made available to defend me, that's all.

I want to be able to prove the negative case of shit I might be accused of by accessing the same systems that they could/would use against me for capitol offenses.

I simply want the data that I'm paying to collect, and to be collected, to be used for JUSTification bidirectionally.

That's all.

Go ahead, scan for dirty bomb etc ... I don't care that you can see that I watched some Amish porn last night ...

But when I get accused of something, and the NSA has all this data I'm paying taxes to store, I want it to be queryable to exonerate me quickly, not to have to retain a massive lawyer and require a damn Supreme Court case w/ secret courts interfering w/ the data being used to protect citizens from the cops drawing the wrong conclusion or trying to quickly close a case, wrong or not ...

How am I trolling my own thread?

Why dont you just go then? Before you get banned again and start telling people to shove their awards up their sphincters.

The only way anything like this will ever happen is if the people physically take control of that building IMO.

I'm actually in complete agreement with this.

I just think a mountain is being made of a molehill with the Windows 10 part.

I'd say the evidence is clear.  You called me out for something I said to Grant. You could have ignored it. Grant certainly didn't seem insulted by what I said, yet you deliberately took umbrage with it.

Ergo, you trolled your own thread.  Obviously.

"We're going to install pervasive surveillance ... but here, have some weed for the paranoia."

That's pretty much sums up the state of affairs if you ask me.

I just want the data to be used both ways if I'm paying for it to be collected, stored, protected ... and since it's now coming from the people, it should be used for the people, and that includes what I'm saying ...

I can never figure out why we don't hear this from the public ...

This is what the EFF should be fighting for IMO ...

We need a group of ex-judges and ex-police chiefs and ex-DoD or whatever, who can access the same data ... we need elected officials looking at it, ensuring it's in our best interests as citizens ...

I don't think they are going to stop, and I'm not even sure that I want it stopped (modern threats being what they are) ... but I'm sure I don't want it to be one-sided, where it's only accessed to incarcerate me.

I don't think any of this would be in their best interests.

LOL, they have not done this in a very long time if ever.
The cops in my "Town" 60k, are the highest paid in the country and they dont serve the public and the punks know it and do what they want. If you call the cops saying the potheads are blasting keeping every one up at night they say, if you don't like the noise then move. If punks highjack the tenants private parking and use it to store their cars long term (up to 18 months so far), and steal the electricity, the Landlord cant do anything, when the call the Cops they dont even show up.
