How much Chlorine do you shock the pool water with? I wonder if that might be what made your sick babies look so manky? Could be they're just really sensitive to the bleach.

The sick plants were way away from the pool and in raised beds the ones near the pool are doing GREAT??? That's what I was worried about, but doesn't look like its hurting them at all. In fact they're some of my healthiest plants.

I am amazed by the density and bushiness of your plants. They look so productive.
Good luck wrestling the squash vines! I have been growing Patty Pan squash lately,
they seem to have a stockier growth habit and don't try to run across the street!

The bushiness is due to myself, mother nature and the pests beating the hell out of them! They all look like giant chia pets from hell!

Yeah...I got Jalapenos doing the same thing. Pretty much the only ones without tails thus far are the scorpions!

Is that the result of cross, or do all peppers exhibit
those little tails once in a while?

Potawie thinks that its likely the floral ring being stronger than usual that causes it.

But clearly not always as the Trinidad Scorpions don't necessarily always have a floral ring that hangs on like that.

On a couple of my Jal plants its their stigma which stays attached and greens up, The rest are either genetic or they have a hard time busting out of their flowers as Potawie and AJ believe.

I have been way too busy to get out and take any pics the past couple days. I ran out this morning to snap a while its still too early for me to fire up the power tools.

Here they are!

Fish Pepper starting to show a little striping on its pods...I think my other fish is a cross. The pod shape is different and half of its pods are upturned and it has no variegation (which is a normal occurrence) This dude is making up for it though!

Little blurry but the new growth on the nursery plants is nice and green! The whole plant used to look like the larger leaf or worse. As a side note. The small plant that I found growing at the base of one of these guys survived being yanked like a weed and is starting to put on some growth as well.


Neither of my Manzano trees are setting fruit yet, but these little guys are??? I think my inground set a couple, but too early to tell if they'll stay stuck.


Fatalii finally starting to put on some pods!


Black Naga is really starting to show off! My largest container plant aside from my Manzano.


Huge Aji Omnicolor pod! I have a couple this size hiding under the canopy. Most of the pods are between 1 and 2 inches.


Caribbean Red, these guys started slow and funky, but they're about to make up for it! The whole plant looks like this! I know I'll be lucky if 1/4 of them set but with nodes like this that won't matter!

Trinidad Scorpion

and this is what has been taking up my time...I gave up woodworking a long time ago, but one of the guys I work with bought a shadow box from me years ago, so he was quick to volunteer me to build a retirement gift for our Captain...

Still a ton to do...the underside of the lid was going to be a shadow box, but the Officers purchased him one of those. So there will be a flag box in the lid and some photos. So much work, I remember now why I gave it up! Been so long I am making rookie mistakes. Good thing I have the original magic erasers in the form of orbital sanders!

Thanks for looking in everyone...I will be busy again today, but hopefully I can get out and snap a few more pics later...

I've built a few wooden boxes myself through the years, I really like the contrasting wood you're using. I'm a big fan of orbital sanders myself!

Yeaterday I picked a handful of "Fish" peppers off a plant, through them in a grilling basket with some shrimp.....even though they were green and unripe they were great on the grill. I prefer to use them when they're just starting to change from green to tan (best flav, in my opinion).........although
The ripened red stage will produce a thinner skinned pod that works well when diced up.

Hey I took your advice and potted up 30 more of the "overstock" of plants into 5 gal containers.............just couldn't see go to waste....

Shane your Bell Peppers look awesome man. My Bells just started to get around half the size of yours and then they just kind of stop. And those purple ones look awesome. Do they ripen Purple or are they just purple throughout?

Yeah man...you're old. I wouldn't even make myself a box like that. Crazy the amount of work that goes in to something like that. Took up my whole weekend and still not done. Ughhhhh...

Pic to follow of a few more that are budding like that, they are really feelin the June sunshine! That wood is nothing special...aromatic cedar on white cedar. When the orbital doesn't do the trick I have an oscillating spindle sander and then the big gun belt sander!

That's what I'm talking about Greg! I keep finding new homes for more and more babies myself! I put 9 more babies in the ground today! They really are doing me proud for sure!

Those Caribbeans were off color and growth wise until it started to warm up a bit then BAM! Thanks I think I got a nice chest too!

Thanks man, still trying to talk momma into taking some photography classes so "she" can get a really nice camera. I am using a point and shoot job now, does a pretty good job! Just hard to manage the light/focus.

They're purple while growing but would ripen red if I ever let them. I got them out of one of the mixed color bell packets. So I was rolling the dice and came up with 2 purples and 2??? This is the first time in years my bells aren't smallish. They're growing HUGE!

"Not" Fish Pepper...The lack of Variegation didn't have me too concerned, but the pod shape is off as well. About half the pods are upturned. Pretty sure they're a cross. Ton of pods on this dude though! So hopefully they're tasty!

Really appreciate the kind words guys, really means a lot coming from you all. I consider each of you primo growers. I am truly a novice when it comes to most of these varieties...heck a few months ago I had never even heard of most of them!

Hi Shane, It's no surprise that your pepper babies are looking good and pumping out pods at a prodigious rate! What plans do you have for your harvest? Are you a fan of sauces and salsas, or do you plan on drying most of them?

Listen, tell the wife she should take a few classes do when you take her on that great vacation next summer she can capture all the wonderful memories. Remember you never said "where"...

If that doesn't work, a hail Mary would be break the camera and buy a new one as a "replacement"...

My wife tried to do just that this weekend at the pool. No she didn't drop it in the water, just on the concrete. Stupid thing survived though. Hrm.... Do we really need an excuse when we both agree that we want a new camera? Just hate to spend the money on it when I could be spending it on the garden.

What are you talking about? It is a requirement. Remember "no pictures=didn't happen"? Well better pictures=it happened BETTER.
