Bhuter's 2018 Glog

Hello everybody! I'm late again to the adventures of pepper growing. Seeds didn't hit the towel until March 6, so I have some still below, some hooks, and some little plants. Not too much to look at right now but how about a growlist.

Lots of crosses, purples, & BBG. I also air layered a clone from the Caramel Cinder F2 last year (with the help of pepper-guru...thanks, Rich) and it's been in stasis until recently. Just starting new growth and already set a pod.

And here's the whole lot. I don't have much room...just what I can fit under a card table.

Thanks for stopping by!

You dont eat the leaves, you wait for the pods, if you're that hungry for heat, I'm sure someone has some pods to send you , I am interested in the cause of this too, maybe a little dry? To close to a light source? I do t know, I've never encountered the edges splitting like that.
Caught me, Alex...nibbling on my leaves. Lol. Maybe it's too windy. It's not right in front of the fan...those are fine, but it gets a fair amount of wind. Some deficiency? The new growth looks fine...so far. It's happening on my Chocolate Primo, too. But I think that's a deficiency. But again, the new growth is fine on that one, also.

I just gave a half strength dose of MG to all older plants earlier this week...3 or 4 days ago because a lot were looking yellowish. Most are looking better except these two, but I'm pretty sure they had it before the nutes. I know the Primo did. Not 100% on the PDN cross.
Adam with two young grandsons you should see some of my leaves ... those plants of yours look great even with some uneven leaf edges

Thank you, John! Oh I can imagine two young boys and young plants don't mix very well...unless they're helping. I look forward to seeing how your SB7J turn out this year, as well as the rest.

So I got this little guy, who's been sickly. As you can see, the bigger leaves are curled. They are actually uncurling at the moment. They were worse. Anyway, it has these two small bumps protruding from where they shouldn't. I saw them a while ago and thought it was the sides of the next forming leaves. But it grew taller and they look like they're growing. What's going on here? Will they be branches at the base? Btw, this is my other Black Naga x Peri-Peri F2.

Here's the top of the other one. It doesn't have those bumps on the stem.

Good to see you made last minute decision to grow some heat.. Have a great farm this year. ;)
Thank you very much! Yeah, I have a bunch of later than late starts, as always. Some of my plants only have one set of true leaves while others are on their fourth or fifth. I started germinating the majority on March 6th. So I'm late altogether. But we'll get there.

Lovely looking plants there, Bhuter!

Always strange seeing plants at this growth-stage whilst my own season comes to a close, but I plan to plant again in July - indoors - so there's not long to wait.
I've been out of the hobby for a while now and you have some new and very interesting species names there!

Like your idea of not starting in very small pots - potting up can be a permanent chore, otherwise...

I see those bumps as new growth. I really don't know if it's best to prune or let them go. So I just let them go.

The plants seem to know more than I do, as it's what they do :shh:
I agree, Scott because today you can tell they're growing quickly. Still little stubs, but twice as big. I hope this one survives. I'm interested to see what it does.

Thank you, Huntsman! You're right about repotting. My late starts I'll put into cells because I've run out of room, but by then the weather is usually warmer and they do better. Every time I've tried to grow in cells starting in February or so, they either don't grow very quickly or they stall out. I tried just putting a germinated seed in these pots (I don't know if they're 3 or 4 inch pots) and they grew a lot better and faster...also they just stay in those containers until plant out. It works terrifically for me.

Thank you, Scott!!!

Also just made a batch of heated chili. Haven't had any in a while. The Star heat provider was a dried Pumpkin Bubblegum. I pulled out a frozen one for this pic. Lol

I'm not waitin' for it to thicken up, either. I'm tearing into that right now! Lol

I'm always all in for chili. I have a recipe I've been meaning to post forever. LB?
It's based on the runner up recipe that a friend used in the Women's Texas chili cook-off. I just gotta have buttered corn bread to drop in the mix...yum!
