Windchicken's 2019 NOT a glog...

The last few years that I've started a glog I have failed to maintain the thing, and I end up feeling bad about it. But I do want to share with y'all this short video of my plants in the shade tent last Saturday (April 27), just before we put them in the beds. There are 69 Capsicum chinense plants and 116 Capsicum annuum plants:

Thanks Richard!!! Dude, it is SO good to hear from your!!! You should know it's largely because of your encouragement and enthusiasm to grow green chile that I am completely obsessed with it now!!! Thanks so much for that, my friend!!!
 
Check out this video I made of our first run with the roaster last summer. We are much better at it now, and we turn the door latches the proper direction, but I'm real happy with it:

I've got mine in a raised bed, but it's a low raised bed, only 5-6" high.
 
I still had a few extras (I always over-plant seedlings), so I'll try those in a grow bag, and compare them to my in-ground NuMex 6-4s. Grow bags do a really good job of shedding excess water.

No overall Glog for my whole garden.
 
I have a "thread" where I'm following just the progress of my volunteer peppers.

The rest of my garden is a mish-mash of searching the vast world of peppers.  I'm still at the point where I feel like I'm not trying hard enough if I don't have a lot of failures.
 
There is no failure.  Just unexpected results.

the other day! I wish it was January again so I could plant
these. It will be hard to wait six more months.

What?! Only six months until seeding for 2020!!!!!!! I had
better get ready!

But it does give him some time to figure out how to grow them in isolation as, I am sure, he will be saving a ton of seed from them to pass around to fellow Oregonians, Washingtonians, and THPers.

Great Video Gary...and that Chile Roaster!!! You better keep a close eye on that thing or it may end up in SC. I never realized exactly how close you were to where my family is from. Most of my family came up around Nacogdoches and Lufkin only about an hour down the road from DeSoto Parish, Spent many days fishing on Toledo Bend,,,great crappie on that lake. 
 
The garden looks amazing as usual. Once they sink their roots into those fertile raised rows it will be a jungle for sure. I'm a heritage big jim fan, Will have to try the Legacy next season.

Do you mind sharing why the Legacy Big Jim is your Big Jim of choice rather than perhaps the Heritage Big Jim or others?

Thanks CaneDog! I guess I meant that I would always grow some form of Big Jim every year...I've grown them all and they're all absolutely wonderful chiles.
 
However, I probably will stick with the "Legacy" for several reasons, not the least of which is that it was developed by "Big Jim" Lytle's very own family, so, in my mind, it's the most legit of all the Big Jim varieties. Also, if you've ever bought seeds from their website, chileseedusa.com, you know that their seed packets are like none other. Rather than the 25-30 seed count packets everyone else sells, the Lytles give you a solid one-ounce packet for your $5.00. That's a s**t-ton of seeds! But mostly importantly, I just love the especially thick flesh and huge flavor of the Big Jim Legacy.

Thanks Paul! It may not look like it, but it was a chore getting that garden planted this year. I could not have done it without my crack team...More on them later!

Wow, that is so cool! Yes, I know the Nacogdoches/Lufkin/Center/Carthage area well, and spent quite a bit of time around there when I was younger...My maternal grandmother's family was originally from Tenaha, so my people probably knew your people! The country on both sides of Toledo Bend has some real interesting history, the effects of which remain in the people to this day. You may know what I mean...

Those Numex varieties are a treat! I've still some dried Lumbre and Sandia Select that you generously sent me a couple years ago and they're still flavorful!
I'm happy that you have finally reached the right annum/chinense ratio LOL (i'm biased)
