Wow! I am a slight gear head... used to go to all the Detroit auto shows. Have worked on my Gremlin quite a few times.

gearhead means something different in my circles...

(clue: you can use hydroponics to grow it as well)
Really? Wow, learn a new thing everyday.

Hey Sickmont,
I’m not necessarily a gearhead (or pothead) per say, but I did rebuild and trash:banghead: then rebuild again an old FE this year. Now she sets pretty in "Mabeline" (1971 F100 2 wheel slide long bed) 325 hp, and I love her africkin a lot.

Here’s a FYI for rookies who may be rebuilding an engine. When you install a new cam, it’s a good idea to go ahead and buy new lifters, so as not to send metal shaving thru-out your $2500 rebuild…then you wont have to pick up approximately 7 cubes by having to bore her 30 over. Now if a 397 is what you’re after….go for it

(or pothead)
: raises hand :
Pot head is not the word I would use in my case....pot head tends to have the conotation that your stoned 24/7...

Guitargod,
Not trying to insult Bro, do your thing.

Back when I was indulging in a little (err a lot) refer…”pothead” was a term of endearment.

What is the term of choice these days?

stoner.

So Stoner implies that it's not 24/7?
maybe more like 12/3.5? :-) Hey nobody told me there would be math here....
LOL, the stoner implies both heavy and medium smoking, pothead implies consistant over the top gratuitous smoking. But keep in mind, these meanings change a little depending on what part of the country your are in. For example, out here in California I would be labeled as a stoner/medicinal patient, where as in Salt Lake City I would be labeled as The Devil. ;)

Sorry, I'm starting to go slightly off topic. Hey, Hotpepper, does this violate the TOC if we discuss drugs (because this might be another good thread for The Lounge if we could stay respectful)?

Could it be,,,,,well lets just think about this,,,,,,,,,,maybe,,,,,,,,,SATAN!?!?;)

Sorry, Its my best (typed) “churchlady” impersonation

I'm not a gear head. I've worked on my Dodge van some ( wih a Dodge 318 ..great V8!) but I'm in no way a gearhead.

Still...I have dreams of one day restoring a '68 GTO. That would ruke!

Actually, I am. The DefconMobile should finally be completed on my 90 Mustang GT 25th Anniversary Edition. Strapped a lovely little Vortech S2 onto it, complete with an awesome cold air intake system, BBK Suspension with progressive springs, MSD ignition system. I had already installed the Hypertech chip, traction bars and frame connectors years ago, and basically swapped the old Flowmaster Force II's for a new set. There's a nuch more stuff to add to this list, but I don't want to bore you guys. We are currently putting the business pieces together for Defcon Racing (I thoroughly love the name, it has a nice ring to it). What a tax shelter being your own sponsor for your own racing team!!! I'll post pics when it's completed...

Yeah, you could call me a grearhead. I've had the car below (1983 Datsun 280zx) for about 12 years. I've brought it back from the dead twice re done the head, lifters, intake, exhaust...much more to come, but funds are low so the mods came to a halt. I drive it everyday to work and it has 141,735 miles on it as of today.

Meet stephanie.

Nice man. It's amazing to see an 80's Z with no rust. I had 2 friends that had them, and they basically welded the doors shut, and used the windows as escape/entrance hatches, due to the fact the rust monsters had eaten away most of the boady around the doors.

Nice!!! You ever run it at the track? I just finished up putting in a 306 w/blower(a Kenne-Bell blowzilla) motor for my friends 95 GT convertible(and yes,it's a stick too). After dyno-tuning, she ran a 12.43 in the quarter. Not bad for a 3900 pound pig, huh? Oh, and if you need anything for a Ford/Lincoln-Mercury, i work at a LIncoln-Mercury dealership on the parts counter, so just let me know.
