SineNomine 2022

It is time to start the new growth for 2022.
Link to my grow log 2021.

Last fall I kept a Tepin x Lemon Drop plant that I tried to grow as a bonchi. He's not the best candidate for that, but he looks pretty good. It even has a flower that seems to turn into a pod.

And there are still many green peppers on the plants waiting to ripen.
I also have two Fatalii plants and a Papa Dreadie SB plant that had a late start and aborted a lot of flowers due to the heat.

Hi Vivian, could I ask you a couple of questions about the air pots?
What size do you use for just 1 plant?
Why do air pots make such a difference to growth?

Wow, can't believe the Fatali production,
Vivian! You have all ten green fingers en-
gaged!

@Tinkerbelle099 , Hi Sue!
I have those pots from the time when I was growing plants in soil mixture. Now I am in the third year of growing in the dutch-bucket system, in pure perlite. I think that this actually makes the difference in growth.
The pots are 12 L (3.17 gal).

@PaulG , The plants from your seeds produced very well and indeed have larger pods. I will save seeds. Thanks!

I struggle to imagine your frustration, dealing with pure perlite! Doesn’t it get absolutely everywhere? What about the dust, do you rinse it out? If so, how do you deal with its ability to float?

I sort of hate perlite, but I can’t get good pumice or another equivalent, so I’m trying to make peace with it…

Hey, Vivian! The seeds for those Fatalis
originally came from @CaneDog via the
seed train a couple of years ago.

I like perlite, it can be used for years. Before the first use, I washed it to remove the dust. That was the hardest part, but it happened 3 years ago. At the end of the season, I do a few waterings with chlorine water for disinfection and that's it.

At the bottom of the pots is a tank of approximately 2 liters (0.528 gal) in which I put the expanded ceramic and thus the perlite does not enter the water recovery line.
Here is a picture of the top of the pots.
