See? I'm all grown up about voting - I voted for something that LOOKED delish, even though it has HATEFUL BP in it......

MGold had me at the title, "What came first". For some reason I've always been accused of that.

The egg on top made this a tough choice, though. I would scrape that off. Personal preference.
But the greens, the chicken, the cobbler. Dude, that is what CI cooking is all about, and you NAILED it.

And while I wouldn't personally eat the egg, I think it was a nice touch, one that many would enjoy. Classy.
Well done MGold. I think this one is out of reach, but I fully endorse your dish, and look forward to you winning in the near future!

All the entries were awesome. Seriously.
Wheebz, you had my vote, but I dont like shrimp on my poppers. I've tried it. Not my thing.
Love shrimp. Love poppers. Just cant mix the two.
(like Sex and Ping brand putters...both great individually...actually haven't mixed those two...yet!)

Thanks FD! I am totally stoked to get the vote. Honestly, it is all about the smack talk and fun during the TD, I am good with photo shop so I have like a thousand crowns. No big deal.

I went back and forth with the egg, but had to do it because I loved the concept and really love runny goodness. But I really appreciate the vote and can't wait to play again next month. I actually have my first born due on the 28th and I told the wife that if she aint in active labor i'm cooking. She has about 3 and a half weeks to get over that initial "IM GONNA KILL YOU" feeling.

Thanks again for the votes! I had a blast.

If Megan's any indication...baby's like to be born AFTER TDs anyway! So, happy March TD MG!!!!!!! :) Looking forward to it!

SL, I thought about calling you! I was at my uncle's (2 of them) house, they both work at Microsoft, I told them I was going to destroy the kitchen, and feed them like kings, all I needed was for them to load the pictures for me, because I didn't know how. Besides the CI challenge meal, I made a smoked chicken chile.

When it came down to crunch time, 8:30, between the 2 of them, they were soo distracted, and soo unable to focus on the task, that I pretty much gave up. We had food and photos, which came out awesome, but I have my doubts it could have beaten some of the masterpieces you guys came up with.

You know chicken fried steak is one of my favorite meals, right?

I know the feeling well, my youngest was born within my THP days.

I mean, the husbands role is so under-appreciated.
The wife wants us to bang her HARD for a few months until conception.
Then we get practically shut off for 9 months plus recovery months, basically a year.
Minus an occasional handy or gratuitous "throw you a bone".
Do they know what that does to our "gully-works"?

Cook dammit. You deserve it. For all you have had to put up with for the last 9 months!!!!

And congrats on the baby. I pray all goes well. Best time of your life.
Nothing will EVER be the same. NOTHING!!!!!!

If I offended any ladies here, you are obviously not my wife. she doesn't give a shit about my gully works. and sorry.

I'm still mulling. Had to knock out some otherwise great entries due to my own personal preferences. Would have gone with SLady but I just can't fathom waffles, never have, even as a kid. The Snoqualmie bisquits and the amazing gravy, would have been enough. I first cringed when I saw the hammered tenderloin, but then thought, hell yea, she just made the best chicken fried steak ever with that cut! It would be fun to sneak that into a regular truck stop joint and secretly film the reaction when they realized it wasn't leather and stringy...

I'm down to SL, Ela, Scovie, and geeme.

SL has a big 'ol plate of messy goodness. Those sausages are calling me.
Ela...damnit...that's like the stuff I attempt on the weekends...but done way better.
Scovie...how does this one have no votes? That is, again, a better twist on one of my favorite dishes, and I WILL be making it.
geeme...blackened catfish (even though there's no black pepper :P), pintos, and pimped out cornbread...I'm leaning that direction...but...DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!

How can Buddy be trailing so much in this one....wtf...lol His meal looks and sounds awesome. Don't get me wrong, everyone else did a fine job. I just don't think that his is that far off from the leaders. Dang, I mean look at that steak and peachyness dessert!!! GO BUDDY....LOL

FIFY: (from land to And) heh heh and a couple other things...

Nope :shame: not gonna happen........the originals are there for the read......We'll continue this topic to the appropriate thread.

For this thread, It's all about the IRON!

Cast Iron is one of those secrets that... if you know about it and use it, you get it. It's great to hear the stories of how the treasures and legacies are continuing. Maybe some silly online cooking challenge on a chile forum actually brought some awareness to some wonderful cookware. Who know's what treasures will be rescued because of our sshheennnanniiigggannns!
