Marino's 2012 Grow Log

Hi everybody!

I think I'm gonna start with sowing at the beginning of March 2012.

The seeds are all stored in my seeds book, but I'm having short time till the end of February; moreover I'm not gonna use any lightbox, so I'll grow indoor till the outside temperature is rising again in Southern Italian spring.

I started growing in 2011 for the very first time, reaching the amount of about 25 pots/15 different varieties at the end of May; other 15 were given as gifts to friends and relatives.

My growing list for 2012:

CHINENSE
Bih Jolokia Chocolate
Bih Jolokia Assam
Naga Morich
Fatalii
Habanero Orange
Habanero Chocolate
Habanero White
Habanero Red Savina
Chupetino
Trinidad Scorpion
TS Morouga
T. Douglah
7 Pod
7 Pod Brown
7 Pod Strain I
Pimenta da Neyde
Pimenta Leopard
Pimenta Elisir
ANNUUM
Goat's Weed
Black Scorpion Tongue
Peter Pepper
Ancho Poblano
Early Jalapeno
Fish
Jalabomb F2
FRUTESCENS
Tabasco
Malagueta
Bird's Eye (overwintered)
BACCATUM
Aji Amarillo (overwintered)
PUBESCENS
Rocoto

BACCATUM x ANNUUM F2 (only saved 3 seeds from the only 3 fruits that the F1 plant gave me)

It's a 31-variety list, I know I'm gonna make my blacony suffer again. I cannot keep more than 1 plant per variety, so friends and relatives will benefit even more than last year (I will start growing 2 small plants per variety, then I will focus on 1 plant).

Season's coming, stay tuned.

Hey Marion awesome update and varieties. What is a malagueta is that a cross or variety on it own? what are you feeding them if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks Fernando

I'm not giving them any fertilizer, they're just living on little water

Awesome glog man. Lots of pics. Plants have nice fat huge leaves. Naples is a place I'd love to visit. Happy growing!

thanks my friend, when you come to visit the city contact me :)

Looks great again, plants are liking the good weather over there? :)

thanks... however to tell the truth over the last 7 days we had way too much rain, in fact the top leaves of the chinense plants don't have a good colour; but I think they will recover fast...

Plants look great. The interesting characteristics between the three pimenta foliage is amazing. Awesome work Marino

thank you, yes it's very funny to see how the colour of the p. elisir and p. leopard - which I guess are hybrids between bhut jolokia and pimenta de neyde - is developing as the season keeps going

sunday rest after repotting about 20 specimens... the balcony is now loaded with plants ready to grow under the summer heat

I'm joking, it's just a funny video I recorded with some of my university colleagues some days ago

Great pic on the jalabomb what was the flavor like from the F1 I have jalabanero that I will send once I get seeds if you would like I think this one from last time I read SilverSurfer post was a F2/F3 not sure.

Hi the flavor of the F1 was very pepper-like, good heat; perfect for soups. If you need seeds just remind me of it around October.

Looks good buddy! Plants look happy. I have about 6 San Marzano tomato plants goin. Got a good sauce recipe?

well I've never grown tomatoes, but I know that this cultivar is good for tomato sauce to dress pasta, pizza and many italian dishes

you can use 1 kg of tomatoes, boil them with some salt and olive oil (add some peppers if you want), then blend it and use the sauce to dress 0.5 kg of pasta

Today's new update, plants keep on benefitting from the nice current weather; some plants like pimenta de neyde and tabasco are really speeding up; paradoxically, some of the c. annuum plants are dropping long behind the c. chinenses;
