  • I'm thinking I'll mix a little bit of Pure Evil with some water and spray the leaves of my plants with it. Something chewed off some leaves of the brussels sprout but left the chiles alone. I can play this game!

Wow, good idea! I had one of the local deer munch 3 of my plants down to the dirt the other day (two have new growth as of today). I might have to try your idea. I bet that would change their mind real quick and in a hurry!

Careful G, that is suspended in alcohol. Don't want to burn your plants. Spot check it first
Apparently the battle with the local deer has already begun. Fortunately my plants were in the garage. Any hunters want to hang out in my or my neighbor's back yards at night, c'mon over!

Actually, although I love to hunt for meat, I shoot tranquilizer guns for a living (Chemical Capture) as part of my job. To bad your so far away. I'm really quite good at what I do.

Dedication: Drinking a mud-green colored protein smoothie. At least the flavor is ok, but ew on the color.
Burdock, poison ivy and other assorted brush behind my and my neighbors' garages sprayed down. I didn't realize there was poison ivy until a tad too late. Good thing I have Tecnu handy!

Keep some Tecnu around. It's a wash for poison oak and ivy, and also rids skunk odor. I was out there in a pair of running shorts, so I can tell you the poison ivy got on my feet and legs. I used the Tecnu as soon as I was done, and I've had no problems at all today. I learned about it years ago from the kids' pediatrician, and have always kept it around ever since. I also sent it with the kids when they went camping with Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts. Note it's a wash, not an itc...

I've heard that, but I have no desire for the massive plants to take over my yard, and nor does my neighbor. Ha - If they come back I'll invite you over to dig them up!
I love Cross Country Nurseries (chileplants.com) They really ARE the best!

It's impressive when a guy who will only eat any kind of steak cooked well-done (any!) manages to cook one for me that is PERFECTLY rare to medium-rare. Almost more impressive is that he gave it to me without even grimacing. No sarcasm, either!

LOL SL! I think all the good ones within a reasonable age range are taken by now! But if that miracle should ever actually happen, I'll be sure to let you know!
Predictions of damaging winds and hail overnight here. All plants moved into the garage, but still, let's hope those predictions are very wrong!

There aren't many of us here. And in many ways it's a good place to move away from. There are certain things I want to accomplish before I move again, but I definitely look forward to moving back out of snow country. The whole east-side/west-side thing still cracks me up, not being from here. When people ask if I'm an east-sider or a west-sider, I tell them I'm from Texas and this country's too big to worry about one side of a river or another.

Holmes County MF! I kicked it old school with the Amish.
Pots from last year hosed down. Two trips to Lowes. Garage swept out. 39 plants potted. 5 plants left to pot plus various seeds to start, but they can wait until tomorrow or next weekend. Only 2 blisters and 2 splinters out of it. Time for some R&R!

I was surprised to find my back was not sore this morning at all. I guess all the working out preparing for nationals is paying off for this, too!
It's hard to be patient when hardening off the new plants. But if I can muster it, should be done by Tuesday. WHOOT!

NO! Admittedly, that sounds good, but she blessed me with something better: 7-pot seasoned salt! And a little bottle of lavender oil AND a mardi-gras-style chile necklace!!!!
In the DFW area and haven't been to MiConcina? GO! And be sure to get the jalapeno-agave nectar margarita while you're there. It's excellent!

LOL. Actually it's a Marriott property, and they put in the curtain about 10:30 last night. They already sent a "we're sorry" gift.
Gringos is still my fav TexMex in the Houston area. Supposed to fly to Dallas tomorrow, but we'll see what the T-storms say 'bout the timing. TB - HECK YEAH!

You know, Gringos calls itself TexMex, yet they have Conchinita Pibil on the menu, as well as other things considered "true" Mexican cuisine. Meh - I'll keep calling all of it Mexican. It's not like Mexican people only ever eat traditional food, so as far as I'm concerned TexMex is still Mex. Ole!
Tequila just tastes better when you're in Texas. Doesn't matter what kind it is. True story.

I was able to do them when I lived in CA, so around 30. But largely sitting at a computer all day and only running for workouts changed that over the years. Swimming demands flexibility as well as strength if you're going to get fast, so it's been quite a process.
I decided my cast iron skillet needs a masculine name. Something that exudes strength but also knows how to be tender. Hmmm…. ;o)
