seeds basic indoor lighting for seed prop - advice please

I would like to say a massive thank you to those who replied.   Given your combined advice, I have been down to my local hardware place and picked up two clip on desk lamps, two philips cool white (6500K) 24W CFL bulbs, and a simple timer. (The shop light system needed some sparky work even to...

seeds basic indoor lighting for seed prop - advice please

Hi All,   I have tried to get a really early start with my seeds this year - late June in fact, which is not even half way through winter here in Australia.   Most of my 40 or so seeds germinated, but to account for the cold temperature (day and night), I left them inside my heated propagator...

    Eating hot and superhot peppers

Hi Virgil,   Fart away my friend! Fart away! And the bonus is that you don't have to blame "the dog", you can blame "the meds"  :D   Sounds like you have it all sorted and that's great.   Coffee will do your stomach in too from my experience ....   There is something stronger than Nexium I am...

    Eating hot and superhot peppers

Virgil,   If you have reflux, and it truly is crippling, you should not be eating anything particulary hot until you have identified the exact cause, e.g. endoscopy to see if the stomach valve is closing properly. If that is the case, the hot food AND anything else you have to try and calm it...

Pepper Burns - How to get rid of them?

I read today that the capsaicinoid (sp?) family is soluble in alcohol, so perhaps some 100 proof or higher content whisky in small quantity can help remove it ? (and then you can drink some to help alleviate the pain further, but don't use Bourbon - that's crap compared to the Scottish malts...

    Let's do a 7 Pot roundup

Borg 9 is an interesting name - I watched a video of a chap in the UK review the Brainfunk which from memory is Borg 9 x 7 Pot Brain Strain!   So that makes a five way cross? Where does it stop

    Let's do a 7 Pot roundup

Hi All,   I've noticed bit of an increase in the number of chilli's that now seem to come as "choc" variety.   (Perhaps that's just me not being on the forums as much however  )   It's got me thinking about my favourite chilli - the 7 pot.   Just for the sake of it, I thought I would have...

7 pot Jonah x Pimenta da Neyde

Ever so slightly off topic, but I have a Bhut Jolokia x PND that has overwintered fantastically compared to all my superhots.   All the posts here plus my observations tell me the PND is quite versatile !   Regards,   Tim

wanted WTB/WTT Sepia Serpent, Daisy Cutter, anything else a little different

Hi All,   Looking to buy or trade sepia serpent, daisy cutter or anything else a little different.   (I don't have a huge selection of varieties to trade, but to compensate I am more than willing to double or triple the number of seeds in return where possible).   Regards,   Tim

    chinense Hotter than Reapers?

Where does the jigsaw rank amongst the superhots?   Is it perhaps a good answer to the question of hotter than a reaper ?   (Growing both types this year - hope to tell for myself ;) in a few months or so)

    chinense Hotter than Reapers?

Thanks juanitos - didn't think to look there    Going back to the OPs question, I now remember that I have seen one particular reviewer go for the chocolate reaper (which he claims it is most likley to be) and say it is clearly hotter than the "standard" and very very floral.   Regards,   Tim

    Coping with *extreme* heat

Hi HP22B,   At the time of the Orange Hab, I used half a wine barrel which is wood. So, no, not a dark pot - but good point nonetheless.   Sure, the plant looked uphappy when the heat picked up, but it was watered multiple times each day and the crop was amazing. That however was back before I...

    chinense Hotter than Reapers?

I haven't had the Reaper yet, but I have had alot of things up to and including the TS Butch T.   Having said that, the Infinity *clearly* hurt the most, just plain and simply everywhere in the mouth. I wouldn't want to do that again ...   Incidentally, a question for Swartmamba, what are    ...

    Coping with *extreme* heat

Hi All,   It's certainly not growing season here in Australia at the moment, but it's time to get plans in order for the remainder of the year.   Here in Adelaide (South Australia), we get some rather hot days, e.g. last year, we had a week where the average maximum temperature was 44.7 deg C =...

hybrid Predict the outcome with multiple crosses of the same ?

The pictures I have seen show a shorter, more stubby red chilli.   That of course is from one plant and everything will depend on so many variables.   I wonder of it starts lime green like the regular 7 pot.   Perhaps the way to know is to grow ! (But, no enough space for everything I want -...
