    Pequaccio F2 Selection

Most strains of Naga and Bhut were not stable at all when they first landed in the hands of hobby growers or CPI, I actually grew 4 quite different plants of Naga Morich back in 2007. Everybody seemed to have a slightly different type when comparing pictures back then. Add to this that a lot of...

    Pequaccio F2 Selection

Datil, I am not sure I understand your question, so please ask again if question not covered...:-) Initially, I have to make a cross/hybridization with Pequin da Ischia (already a stable variety) in order to get variation from the F2-generation on. From there I do not see a faster way of...

    breeding Share Any Breeding Tips?

Yes, I often break the pistil off, especially when handling the smallest flowers. Training for a steady hand seems to be the right approach...

    Pequaccio F2 Selection

This is another of my crosses. The mother variety was the dwarf pequin-type, Pequin da Ischia, and the pollen donor was a cluster type. 50 F2-plants were grown, only 5 showed the mazzetti/cluster-trait wanted. This is the one selected for further development, it is compact, early and pods dry...

    Seeds direct from Lima, Peru!!!

Has anyone had any luck with the Aji Pacay..? I have 3 plants; despite being started very early and growing into gigantic plants, they are forming buds extremely late for me and those formed have hesitated to open all summer. Within the last few days they show signs of wilingness to finally...

    Nagaquin F4

The F4-generation of Naga Morich (c. chinense) x Pequin da Ischia (c. annuum) - this year one of the 10 plants grown is clearly ahead of the others and among the very earliest I grew from seed this year. When it comes to pod shape, uniformity is beginning to kick in. This is the first ripening...

favorite Favorite low and compact chilis?

Is the Dwarf Chiltepin from Semillas? I grew two plants this year and they were not at all dwarfing in habit, Pequin da Ischia is a good choice for a dwarf pequin, good heat and flavour too.

    Kitschaccio F2 (Kitsch x Abbraccio) - Italian/Calabrian style peperoncini a mazzetti

that is correct, but we have been paying the price here in august with cold, wet weather which have stunted growth for me, many plants have rottening/wiltening branches because of the excessive humidity, so I would still say we are struggling to grow capsicum - breeding for earlier, more...

    Kitschaccio F2 (Kitsch x Abbraccio) - Italian/Calabrian style peperoncini a mazzetti

This year I am growing out 25 plants of the F2-generation of a cross between two varieties from STUARD in Parma, Italy - Kitsch and Abbraccio. I am looking for cluster fruit set suitable for cut bunches ("a mazzetti recisi") and earliness since summers here in Denmark generally are quite cold...

    Italian Chillies

I think PIC 1 is spot on! There are several italian/calabrian cultivars that look quite a lot like these "mazetti" - meaning "in bunches" because they grow like this, is just one, which is often sold in my local hyper market still attached to their long stalks. Have a look here...

    HAJ's hajj to chili

Nice work! There is already an annuum named Tequila Sunrise and a NuMex Sunrise, so I think you should stick with Aji and maybe come up with a new surname...

    Aji Panca?

The traditional, widespread Aji Panca is c. Chinense and brown. However there is a red strain which is also chinense. Still, I would love to see a brown baccatum... Sources: http://www.lamolina.edu.pe/hortalizas/webdocs/PUNTO%20DE%20AJI%20.pdf +...

    The Nagaquin F2 selection

Thanks. Yes, but I want it to be simpler - pods drying up on the plant is my goal, since I live in a cold, wet climate. Also, chopping whole plants and let them dry at the end of the season might work for me.

    pick 6

Most people suggest mainly very hot to super hot chinense varieties, I think you should try some from other species too. From baccatum maybe Criolla Sella, Lemon Drop or Aji Cristal. And then maybe some kind of pubescens, which one depends on how your growing conditions are, the Locato PI 387838...

Fatalii Gourmet Aji Fantasy, PI 322717

The original Fatalii Gourmet Aji Fantasy is yellow. Aji Fantasy White i believe is a white mutation sold from the Semillas website.

overwintering My over-wintering spot. Will it suffice? Please come in and give opinions.

My procedure is almost as posted just above... I have succesfully overwintered many plants without artificial lighting on both south- and westfacing window sills. It is important get a sane temperature to light ratio, so from Oct-March/April I grow at 5-15 degrees celsius (41-59 F) trying to...

    HAJ's hajj to chili

Great idea for a cross, especially since there are no brown ripening baccatums. I have made a similar cross this year, Criolla Sella x Georgia Black. Really looking forward to seeing your growout of the F2's...

    Piribibi F2 Selections

Thank you both. I am looking forward to seeing your crosses next season, Spice. Especially the second generation of chiltepin x Morouga, which is about the same concept as my Nagaquin (Naga Morich x Pequin de Ischia), i.e. A wild crossed with a superhot...
