Trinidad Scorpion Appreciation Grow Event 2010

Northern Gardeners Temperature Comparison Just thought that it would be interesting to check into this... It may be that season is about the same length from last to first frost, but temperatures between these dates are quite different - much warmer in Ottawa. I myself live in Denmark, which is...

Mata Frade, does anyone have any info??

Looking good, Grant! Tell me, are you also growing the Pimenta Morango?? I think it has a lot of similarities with this Mata Frade (and Brazilian Pimenta da Neyde, too)...

    breeding Cross Pollinating Peppers

Crossing an annuum with a chinense is possible - I made such a cross (Pequin de Ischia x Naga Morich) a couple of years ago and the F1-seeds indeed proved partially fertile, i.e. 2 out of 6 seeds germinated. From there on germination should be normal, all my F2-seeds planted also germinated...

    pubescens White Flower, C.Pubescens

Could it be that seed stock is not pure!? Time will tell, I guess... I once grew a pubescens with almost white flowers (i.e. some very pale purplish on flowers) - it is called Rocoto San Isidro and is avaliable from Semillas (http://www.semillas.de/cgi-bin/shop_en/shop.cgi) Do a search... A...

dried Where is the best place to buy bulk dried pods?

No Bhut Jolokia here, but a lot of other flavorful varieties. Habanero powder seems to be only chinense possibility at the moment, but they have had whole habanero pods before... http://www.dagiftbasket.com/

breeding What variety do you think would cross well with a Bishop's crown?

Very true! So here is a little help if you want to make an "interspecific hybrid" with baccatum... http://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jsbbs/56/1/31/_pdf I would concentrate on finding a nice baccatum variety to cross with instead - my suggestion is Aji Omnicolor (hotter and you might be able...

    Peppers I won't grow again

Don't give up! For a nice pequin type try the dwarf variety "Pequin de Ischia" and a nice ornamental with great flavor - try Aji Omnicolor.

Need to know what type of pepper this is.

    No, red. http://www.thechileman.org/results.php?chile=1&find=omnicolor&heat=Any&origin=Any&genus=Any&submit=Search

Need to know what type of pepper this is.

It is Aji Omnicolor - an extremely nice baccatum; early, tasty, pretty... If you choose "chileman guides" and "pod variation guide" this is confirmed... The one on the photo from tradewindsfruit.com seems to be the same.

    Greetings from Peru

I understand your skepticism as it is seen on the photo that they are starting to mature to yellow, so it is more than likely that they are not ripe as green... The white/purple "Arnaucho Purple" looks very similar to Aji Omnicolor which I have been growing for some years - Omnicolor...

Yes, seems to be quite genuine offspring to your mother plant, maybe I will cross it with Pimenta Morango... Funny with the Donnie's Goat's Weed F2 - I have 11 plants growing and almost all of them have a lot of pubescence, although it varies. Will make a new post in a few weeks when they all...

    Pimenta Morango

They taste great IMO - chinense-like, very aromatic and hotness I think would be around 9... This is an overwintered plant that was cut drasticlly back, so in its second season it has spread and stayed quite low. The first year they are very upright growing. I would say put seeds in the ground...

    Pimenta Morango

This chinense variety is very pretty and also very hot and aromatic. This plant was grown inside and therefore is not so dark/black, when grown outside its leaves, flowers and pods look a lot like Pimenta da Neyde in color, I think they are closely related...

Vladan, glad they have arrived... Feel free to distribute the seeds as you may want later on - regarding my crosses they are not stabilized and anything you may come up with will thus partly be your creation... Did you already have Sladki Feferoni"? I remember they were quite early, heavy...
