sun Picking and Drying in the Sun

Ajarn, I experimented with this last season and didnt get a great result. Due to the humidity up here as well Im guessing. One thing that did work, but IS a little time consuming was to make a 'ristra'. That way the are getting a constant breeze around them and reduced deterioration to nearly zero.

    Sharing the Love

Cool story. One of my sons friends, Joe (aged 12 then), was fascinated by chillis, said he loved the heat and was bugging me, asking loadsa questions...This was a couple of years ago and all I had in the way of heat were bog-standard Orange and Red Habs. A few weeks later, I finally let him have...

free Free seeds: Yellow 7s, Choc Habs, and Douglah

Only around 20 of each (from pods given to me by Novacastrian) Have had great early success with the Chocs and Douglahs (Douglahs close to 100%?). Happy to split it down the middle for a cpl of people? Prefer it sent within Australia too. I'm cheap. :) PM me and I'll get on to you. cheers, John

    grilling Grilling pods for preserving...

Haha..cheers Nova :( Potawie, sorry, that was a typo. I meant 'slow cook', not smoke! But as Nova suggested, might be worth having a muck around and experimenting.

    grilling Grilling pods for preserving...

Ive been playing around with slow smoking on a kettle and wondering if I could gently roast pods so that they have a crisp skin... piercing, and adding to a oil/vinegar mix. Would they retain a decent shape, or still turn to mush? :) More a curiosity thing...

    chinense Peach Habaneros

Dreadie, I grew a single plant this year and and it produced plenty of pods, and as someone else said, a pale orange, with less heat than a bog-standard Orange.

    WC 2010

I'd love to see the Dutch go through, knock out Uruguay and face what is a cracker of a match Argie v Germany / Para v Spain. My fingers are so hot I dare not touch any chilli for fear of cooling 'em. Come on you Dutch ;)

    WC 2010

Neither  I'm English born, Aust raised. Don't support an A League side nor watch the games. World Cup is always a case of 'interested, but not concerned', it's just a diversion to my beloved club Newcastle Utd. Club before country!

    WC 2010

All the 'hot' teams have made pretty poor starts so far, and with Brazil and Spain yet to play, it's all for the taking. Given that Aussie coach Pim Verbeek doesnt like strikers and prefers boring defensive football, I think it'll backfire on him. Emerton and Cahill will want to move forward...

    Fruity Fatalii Fire Hot Sauce

DownRiver, love this recipe! We changed it as no Fatalii on hand (used Savinas as thats what we had on hand, and mostly deseeded to suit), plus we have no access to Agave, so substituted with palm sugar... But! It worked brilliantly. A friends son works up at Gove in the NT (Australia) and...

Ta for the reply Armadillo. It's kinda what I expected. Nova, don't get all het up here.. You cant rely on the landlord to secure your dog - thats your responsibility. If the dog can't be properly contained, it simply shouldnt be there. Ive got two Staffies that are definitely protective, but...

Woah! Some seriously hot snakes there! What was the Pueblan Milksnake like? Some of the stuff o'seas is just incredible... High on the list would be some of the morph Ball Pythons that are coming out of the US, Corns, Boas and those incredible Eyelash vipers...plus white-lipped tree...

Might have been lost in translation... - but does your neighbour have dogs/cats etc? - is your property secure (i.e are you taking personal responsibilty?) and ensuring your dogs can't escape? (You'd have to answer No to this one) - Is the dog trained at all? - You say the dog was injured whilst...

Exactly. The reasoning from consecutive Govts is that if an imported reptile was to escape, it could contaminate the local/native population.... as if it would survive. I agree with the banning of Savannah Cats etc, but reptiles are fragile things, and introduced species simply couldn't survive...
